A novel of salvage high chapter 4
KEISHA POV
•
When school dismissed, I ran to catch up with Chris so I could thank him for his shirt; he was really a lifesaver - I can’t imagine roaming around on a stained uniform.
“Hey, Chris.” I shouted, but he didn’t seem to hear. I ran faster, and dragged his bag when I got closer ; he turned around in fear and removed the EarPod in his ears.
“What?” He muttered, obviously frightened.
“Gosh, what a sisi man.” I almost said.
“Did you dragged me to call me that?” He asked, and I blinked nervously.
“Did I say that out loud?” I asked, and covered my mouth.
“Can I go now?” He asked, with head bowed.
“Why is he so shy?” I thought, and covered my mouth as I realized that I might’ve said that out loud as well, but thankfully I didn’t. “Your shirt, thank you for the shirt. I promise to wash it and return it tomorrow.” I said.
“You don’t have to thank me. You got involved with Alex because of me, so just be careful henceforth.” He said, and plugged back his EarPods before leaving.
“What a gentleman.” I thought, and found myself drooling. “Am I seriously drooling over a nerd?” I almost shouted, and slapped myself back to sanity. “Thank you.” I shouted, waving at him; although I know he wouldn’t hear.
Mr. Headphone walked past me with his headphones plugged on his ears, and I found myself running after him.
“Hey, Mr. Headphone.” I shouted, because I’ve forgetter his name. “Hey, you left me in the morning, so don’t tell me you are going to leave me again.” I said tapping him when I get close. He turned to look at me, and looked… it was someone else.
“Excuse me.” He said, in his cold baritone voice that sent shivers down my spine.
“So s£xy.” I found myself drooling before I got to my senses. “Sorry, I thought you were Mr. Headphone, no, I mean I thought…-“ I was saying, but he continued on his way. “Wow. So charming.” I found myself drooling. “Gosh Kei. I can’t believe I drooled on two guys within same time interval. Well in the other case, he isn’t a nerd. And I’m just a girl that deserves to drool over amazing creatures.” I found myself saying; and the few people passing started staring at me. “What?” I shouted, and they looked away instantly.
Where I stood still drooling, I saw Mr. Headphone from afar.
“Hey, it’s you. You are the real Mr. Headphones. Wait up.” I shouted, running after him; but he was quick to hop on his bike and rode away. “F¥ck you.” I cursed.
“How do I go home now?” I thought, and started wishing the guy from this morning would come for my rescue again. Just like requesting a helper with my wishes, a car pulled up in front of me.
“Hey, do you care for a ride?” He asked, and I let out a sigh in relief.
He opened the passenger seat for me, and I smiled.
“Thank you.” I muttered.
“It was you, right? The one who got the spotlight on her first day.” He said, and I smiled; unsure if it’s a compliment because I got drained with juice afterwards.
“Thanks for the recognition.” I found myself saying. Well it’s something to be proud of, standing up against bullies and getting bullied right after.
“Ms.Fearless, I’m Stella.” He said, and my eyes widen. Wondering how a man would go by such name.
“Stella?”
“Don’t think about it too much. There is a history behind that. So, it’s nice to meet your Ms. Fearless.”
“Well… I also have a name, I’m Keisha.”
“Nah, I prefer to call you fearless, because I’m a fan.” He said, and I widen my eyes in shock.
“A fan?” I repeated.
“Yes, I’m a fan of you, your guts. I love it.” He said, and I found myself laughing, in a sarcasm.
“A fan is a bit too… much.” I found myself saying ; a bit confused.
“No it’s not. I’ve been schoolmate with Alex, Jeremey and Gabriel since elementary school, and they have been bullies ever since. I always wish deep down that someone could stand up and fight them, and loo… our hero showed up, you showed up. I’m a big fan, I adore you.” He said, and bowed.
I felt my cheek getting hot, that was when I realized that I was blushing.
“Come on, don’t say such. I’m just Keisha.” I said, already flattered.
“I already created a fan page for you, and we have more than 200 members. A lot of people adore you. Can I get your autograph?”
“Autograph? You can’t be serious.” I said, and I found myself laughing.
“Come on I need your autograph. Please…”. He said, and stopped driving. That was when I realized that he was seriously about it.
“Wait. How come you all believe in me when I got bullied right after ?” I found myself asking.
“That is from our anti-fan.” He blurted, with cleansed teeth.
“Anti-fan?” I asked, with wide eyes.
“Yes. You should beware.” He warned.
I let out a sigh in disbelief; I just transferred to the school and I’m already entangled in between fans and anti-fans. I don’t even know which I should be scared of.
*
He persuaded me into getting my autograph till we get to my house.
“See you tomorrow, much love.” He said, and did me a love symbol with his fingers.
I let out a sigh, and ran inside. “What a weirdo.” I thought. I should have known better when a male bares a female name.
I went in, and remembered that Mr. Headphone is the cause of all of these. If he hasn’t left me behind, I wouldn’t have been involved with that weirdo in the first place.
I went to the parking lot and turned his motorcycle neck. “Serves him right.” I cursed, and looked up to meet his glare. “Gosh, who would’ve thought he was there looking at me from the balcony?” I muttered in fear, and sneaked inside.
I wasn’t looking as I sneaked in, and bumped into my annoying half-sister.
“Geez… are you blind?” She shouted.
“You are too loud.” I whispered, and continued on my way; I could feel her gaze pierced on me till I went out of sight.
I got to the doorway to my room, and met Mr. Headphone there, starling me.
“Hi, how are you?” I found myself waving.
He glared at me, and walked past me.
“This city is filled of weirdos, Kaye where are you?” I cried, tossing on my bed.

📌ALEX POV 📌
*
My friends and I went to a game house after school. While they were having fun, I was engrossed on my phone scrolling through the students’ page.
“Gosh, that transfer student seems to make a name for herself on her first day, using me as the source.” I muttered, with clenched teeth.
“Buddy, Jeremy is out. You’re upnext.” Gabriel said, but I wasn’t paying attention to them; Jeremy noticed and grabbed my phone.
“Give it back.” I shouted, and he passed it Gabriel.
“Oh, man… don’t tell me you haven’t gotten over her yet?” Gabriel teased.
“Bring it back, and let’s get out of here.” I said, and collected my phone.
“That automatically means I won, ok?” Gabriel said, winking.
“Yeah, this weekend trip is on me.” I blurted, and they both jumped in jubilant. “Such nutcases.” I cursed.
“Buddy, we should go shopping, I need to get some stuffs.” Gabriel said.
“Just order in, I need to go home and start working on my report. And you two should do the same.” I said, pointing at them with seriousness.
“Relax man, we will. Why are you taking this so seriously? Your grades already dropped anyways.” Gabriel said.
“Are you really going home to work on the report, or to think about her?” Jeremy said, reminding me of the transfer student again.
*
I get home, and tried to work on my report; but I couldn’t concentrate. I kept thinking of the transfer student and the best way to get back at her. I can’t let her shine stepping all over me. No one seems to be talking about how I get back at her, they are all focused on how she interfered with my business so I thought of getting back at her in a peculiar way that could get everyone talking - I picked up my phone and video called Jeremy and Gabriel immediately.
📳Me: Buddies, something has been bothering me, and I can’t even seem to get anything straight.
📳Jeremy: You are thinking of the transfer student, right?
📳Gabriel: Gosh! Why would he be thinking about her? Did he fell in love with her at first sight?
📳Jeremy: Gabe, why are you so slow? But tech wise?
📳Gabriel: Is that a compliment?
📳Me: Come on buddies, I want to get back at her. I want it to really hurt.
📳Gabriel: Oh, we are still on revenge.
📳Jeremy: Man, I can only think of one way that will hurt her deeply, she might even transfer again if she isn’t strong.
📳Me: Nib the nail, I’m already in my toes.
📳Gabriel: Why do I feel like you are about to say something trashy?
📳Jeremy: Well, it’s better than you. You never got anything to say.
📳Gabriel: Hey! Watch it, Jeremey, you are really getting on my nerves.
📳Me: (let out a sigh) enough buddies. Jeremy let’s hear your idea. I love painful revenge.

📌KEISHA POV 📌
*
I got dressed for school the following day, and hurried downstairs to join the rest in the dinning. Yesterday was a day, I was in my room all through expect when I went downstairs to eat. Mum and my stepdad didn’t come home till I fell asleep. So today, I made sure to hurry up so I can report Mr. Headphone to them. They should get me a ride as well if he won’t ride me to school. I don’t mind.
“Keisha, I returned home late last night that I didn’t get to ask how your first day at school was.” My stepdad said.
“It would have been the best if he didn’t ditch me.” I said, pointing at Mr. Headphones, and they all looked at me.
“What do you mean? What did Stef did?” Mum asked, and I wondered who ask her to intervene. She didn’t care to ask after my first day at school transferring me, and made me resume earlier before I adapt to my new environment.
“Sir, he didn’t allow me ride with him to school, and also left me behind after school.” I said, I included “sir” so mum will understand that I’ve no business with her.
“Stef, why did you do that ?” My stepdad asked, but he pretended not to be deaf with his headphones on his ears..
“He is talking to you.” I shouted, and removed the headphones.
Everyone gasped looking at me, and I instantly became scared. “Does he never take it off?” I thought in fear; and the headphone fell offmy hands.
Stef picked it up, and glared at me before leaving.
“Stefan.” My stepdad called.
“Honey, just leave him alone.” Mum said.
Even if he doesn’t, I don’t think he can do anything to his son. “They should just get me a ride and all is settled. I don’t mind for a motorcycle as well.” I thought, and started imagining myself riding a motorcycle. I’m good with bicycle, so riding a motorcycle won’t be bad even though I had an accident on it before. I’m not the kind to dwell over my past.
“Keisha, how did you get to school yesterday?” Mum asked, and I glared at her - I instantly understood where she is heading to.
“I begged around, I begged the drivers passing by to give me a ride. A middle-aged man later gave in because of how pitiful I looked. I don’t want to miss my first day at school.” I lied. Coming up with a pitiful story like that is the best way to get my own ride.
“What? A middle-aged man?” My stepdad shouted. He seems to be more worried than my mum. “That’s very dangerous for a young girl like you.” He added.
“I know, right? But I had to go to school.” I said, pointing my lips together.
“You should have ordered a ride instead.” Mum said, and I opened my mouth agape because I never even thought of that.
“Do they do that at the countryside?” My half-sister teased.
“Queen, watch what you say.” My stepdad cautioned.
“Yuck! Queen is even her name. What a pretty name she got.” I thought.
“I know, but thanks anyways.” Queen blurted, and I instantly realized that I said that out loud.
“What’s wrong with me?” I almost cried, and I covered my mouth to avoid further implications.
Keisha, will you be fine with ordering ride? Or I should ask the driver to take you tho and fro?” My stepdad asked.
“Neither. I’ll be fine with my own ride.” I found myself saying.
*
I got to school, and parked my bicycle before finding my way in. When I said I wanted my own ride, I never imagined riding a bicycle again; but mum butt in and told my stepdad that I normally ride bicycle to school; since that’s the only thing I can ride, they assumed that was what I’m requesting for - I wondered how she even knew that I rode bicycle to school. I couldn’t protest because my stepdad was in a hurry to work, so here I’m with my bicycle. I’m proudly the only student riding a bicycle to salvage high. Can my school life get anymore worse?
*
I sat on my seat engrossed with my phone when someone dropped a bottle of strawberry drink on my desk. I looked up, and my eyes widened to see its Alex. “What? Does he want to poison me?” I almost shouted.
“No, it isn’t poison. It’s a sign of peace, let’s get along.” He said, and went to his seat.
I looked at the drink and remembered how he poured the same drink on me yesterday.
“Time for revenge.” I thought , and went to his seat. “Yes, we should get along.” I said, and poured the drink on him.
