A novel of Dark Ties chapter 2

NEXT DAY ~ SOLARIS CITY

The sun shone upon Solaris City, casting a warm glow in the neighborhood.

Catalina walked down the street, she's just coming back from the store where she'll get plant food from. Her  long, curly hair bouncing with each step. She had always loved her hair, and took great care to keep it healthy and strong. As she walked, she noticed a group of kids from her neighborhood staring at her. At first, she thought nothing of it, but as she approached, they began to snicker and whisper to each other.

One of them, a tall, lanky boy with a messy mop of hair, stepped forward.

"Hey, look at Catalina's hair," he said, his voice dripping with disdain.

"How will someone have this kind of long hair if she's not a witch?" Another one said..

The other kids giggled and nodded in agreement. Catalina felt a surge of embarrassment and hurt. She had heard rumors and whispers about her being a witch before, but she had never thought that her own neighbors would believe it.

"What's wrong with my hair?" Catalina asked, trying to keep her voice steady.

The boy sneered.

"It's just too perfect, too long. Only a witch could have hair like that."

The other kids began to chime in, calling her names and making accusations. "She's a witch, she's a witch," they chanted, their voices growing louder and more menacing.

Catalina felt tears pricking at the corners of her eyes. She had never done anything to hurt these kids, and she didn't understand why they were being so cruel.

"I'm not a witch," she said, her voice shaking.

"I'm just a normal person, just like you."

But the kids wouldn't listen. They continued to taunt and tease her, their words cutting deep into her heart. Catalina felt like she was all alone, like no one was on her side.

As she walked away, the kids' laughter and jeers followed her, echoing off the houses. Catalina felt like she was walking through a nightmare, with no escape from the hurt and humiliation.

She quickened her pace, her eyes fixed on the ground. She just wanted to get home, to hide away from the cruel words and mocking faces. As she turned the corner onto her street, she saw her father's car parked outside their house. She felt a surge of relief, knowing that she would be safe and loved once she was inside.

But as she approached the house, she heard the kids' voices one last time. "Witch, witch, witch," they chanted, after and she suddenly stopped walking.

As the kids continued to taunt and tease Catalina, something suddenly snapped out of the blue. It was as if the air around them had changed, and a dark, eerie energy had descended upon the group. Only where they were standing.

The kids stopped laughing and jeering, their faces frozen in shock and terror. Catalina's eyes had turned a piercing, icy blue, and her hair was standing on its on  as if electrified.

One of the kids, the tall, lanky girl who had first accused Catalina of being a witch, took a step back, his eyes wide with fear. And then, in an instant, she let out a blood-curdling scream.

Blood began to pour from her eyes, streaming down his face like a gruesome, mask. The other kids stumbled backward, tripping over each other in their panic to get away.

Catalina's eyes remained fixed on the girl, her gaze burning with an otherworldly intensity. The girl's screams grew louder, more louder  and then, suddenly, she collapsed to the ground, her body twitching and convulsing.

The other kids were paralyzed with fear, unable to move or speak. They watched in horror as the boy's body went still, his eyes frozen in a permanent, blood-filled stare.

And then, just as suddenly as it had begun, everything was over. The dark energy stopped and Catalina's eyes returned to normal. She looked around, looking confused , she had no idea what had just happened.

The kids stumbled backward, tripping over each other in their panic to get away from Catalina. They ran, screaming, back to their homes, not stopping until they were safely inside, locked away from the strange, terrifying girl who had just seemed to will one of their friends to death.

The boy's body lay on the ground, a grim, bloody reminder of the horror that had just occurred. And Catalina, still looking confused .

The sun had just went down in  Solaris City, casting a golden glow over the streets and buildings. But the peaceful evening atmosphere was short-lived, as a mob of angry citizens began to gather in the town square.

Their faces were twisted with rage and hatred, and their voices were raised in a chant:

"Kill Catalina! Kill the witch!"

Catalina, unaware of the danger that was unfolding, was at home with her father, Tony. But as the noise grew larger and more aggressive, Tony knew that they had to act fast.

He peeked out of the window, his eyes scanning the crowd. He saw the anger and the hatred in their eyes, and he knew that they would stop at nothing to harm his daughter.

"Catalina, we have to get out of here," he said, his voice low and urgent. "Now."

But it was too late. The mob had already surrounded their house, and they were pounding on the doors and windows, demanding that Catalina come out.

Tony knew that they couldn't stay there. He grabbed a small bag and took Catalina's hand, pulling her towards the back door.

"We'll sneak out through the alley," he whispered.

"We have to get out of here before it's too late."

But as they reached the alley, they were met with even more people, all of them eager to harm Catalina. Tony knew that they couldn't escape through the streets, not with the entire city against them.

So he made a split-second decision. He would escape with Catalina in the middle of the night, when the streets were empty and the mob was less likely to be looking for them.

They waited until the darkness was complete, and then they slipped out of the house, making their way through the shadows to the outskirts of the city.

As they walked, Tony could feel the weight of their situation bearing down on him. They were leaving behind everything they knew and loved, and they were heading into the unknown.

But he knew that it was the only way to keep Catalina safe. He would do anything to protect her, even if it meant giving up their home and their lives in Solaris City.

As they reached the edge of the city, Tony looked back at the towering buildings and the angry mob that was still gathered in the town square. He knew that they would never be able to return, not after what had happened.

And then he turned to Catalina, his eyes filled with determination.

"We're going to Greenville City, to stay with my brother and his son" he said.

"We'll start a new life there, away from all of this." He said with a reassuring smile.

Catalina nodded, her eyes filled with tears already.

"Papa,I swear I didn't know how it happened" She sniffled innocently and Tony smiled patting her hair gently.

"I know it wasn't your fault"

Catalina and Tony reached his sister's house in Greenville city the next day and Sienna welcomed them well.

After taking their baths and changing into fresh clothes, their seated for breakfast.

"Catalina is nice to finally meet you" Sienna said warmly and she smiled.

At least she was comfortable here, around her family and people she knew at least.

"This is Tobe your cousin brother" She said pointing to Tobe who just finished eating his food. He's a tall, slender and handsome guy.

"I cous" Catalina stretched out her hand with a smile for handshake but he shot her a glare and walked upstairs arrogantly.

"Don't mind him" Sienna laughed akwardly, "he's just surprised."

After eating a little from her food, Catalina pushed the plates forward and stood.

"I'm okay" She said. She's not the type that eats alot.

"I'll be in the room upstairs" She further said and went upstairs.

Sienna stared at her until she was out of sight and Tony sighed out.

"What really happened in Solaris City?" Sienna asked, packing the dishes to the kitchen and she returned.

Tony began to explain everything about Catalina, down to the killing out of the blue and Sienna's eyes went from big to wide.

"You don't mean it, Tony"

"It only got worst when she turned nineteen" Tony said and sighed softly.

"What are we gonna do about this, how can we help her?" Sienna asked, concern etched on her face.

"I already got her an application to Greenville NC university"

"You mean the famous school for supernatural beings?" Sienna blinked and he nodded.

"But how? We don't even know if she's a supernatural being, She's till human and half humans are not allowed there, which you're aware of"

"I stole it from someone who's child already died. Anything to make Catalina attend" He said and Sienna almost fainted on her spot.

"You what, Tony are you crazy?" She snapped.

"I got it from a ghost" he further said and Sienna's blood ran cold.

"Whattttt!!!!!"
