A novel of salvage high chapter 40
Alex’s POV
Keisha isn’t in school all day, and I couldn’t stop worrying. I sent her numerous messages, and even called her but she screened my calls and didn’t return it; I doubt if she even reed the messages.
“Relax, buddy. I’m sure she left her phone somewhere, and probably busy.” Jeremy said, already tired of my ranting.
I let out a sigh, and looked at who is absentminded.
“Hey, Gabe. What’s your take on this?” I asked, even though I know his opinion would be useless.
“Man, why don’t we change class?” He blurted, and we looked at him - that was out of our conversation.
“What’s that about? How will we change classes now that we are seniors? Have you gone nut?” I blurted, passing my aggression to him is the best way to cool my head.
“Don’t tell me you are also drooling over the new girl?” Jeremy said, and I looked at him.
“Oh, man. You also saw her right? She is just perfect. She is the talk of the whole school. Why isn’t she in our class, just why?” Gabriel whined.
“What new girl?” I asked. I couldn’t believe a new girl stole the spotlight and I had no idea. I have been spacing out all day thinking about Keisha.
“The new girl that recently transferred, she is the talk of the whole school. I heard she is new in New York.” Jeremy said.
“Yeah. She just returned from Spain. The only daughter of the youngest multibillionaire Saint Holand. He is in his late 30s, I heard he got married before he graduated from highschool. So, she could as well just marry me now before graduation.” Gabriel whined.
“Eww… disgusting.” Jeremy teased.
“I see you already did your research.” I blurted.
“Alex, this girl is no ordinary girl. I heard she is a brand ambassador for topnotch brands. Have you seen her networth? I believe with that networth, she could live off her family income forever.”
“So? What’s the point? We were the ones who turned down those offers, are you regretting it now?” I blurted.
“Why are you lashing at me?” He shouted.
“Don’t you see it? Keisha is out of reach, how do you expect him to be in his right self.” Jeremy teased.
“I’m sure she is fine, this isn’t the first time she is absent.” Gabriel said.
“You are right, this isn’t the first, but it’s different this time. Chris is absent too, and remember he saw them kissed yesterday.” Jeremy said, and my eyes widen.
I never thought of that, “Chris is also absent, and they even kissed yesterday. What if they went on a date.” I thought, and grabbed Gabriel’s car keys.
“Hey, where to man?” Gabriel shouted, and held my hand.
“I’m going to find her.” I muttered.
“Useless!” Jeremy blurted, and I looked at him. “There is no point in that man. This is a competition, you don’t have to be too aggressive. Chris is no match for you.” He added, and I become clam.
“No match you say? Remember he is the chairman’s son, and he has been a threat even before then.” Gabriel said, and my eyes widen.
He got a point, he has always been a torn between Keisha and I.
“What’s your take man? What do you advise he do? Run after her like a madman in love.” Jeremy lashed.
“I could do that for Sophie.” Gabriel grumbled.
“Who is Sophie?” Jeremy asked.
“The new girl.” He muttered with a smile, and we both sighed in frustration.
I can’t believe he is in that phase again, he is always this way whenever he found a new girl he is interested in. This is over the 30th time, but I can never get used to it.
“Yuck!” Jeremy lashed.
“What do I do man? I’m confused.” I lament, and sat on the couch.
“Let’s grab something to eat first.” Gabriel said.
“Yeah, I’ll order in.” Jeremy said, and took his phone.
“Nooooooo…”. Gabriel screamed, scaring us.
“What?” We both shouted .
“Let’s go to the cafeteria.” He muttered.
“Why?” I asked.
“Don’t tell me it’s because of that new girl.” Jeremy said.
“I don’t understand why the school will admit a new student when it’s just few weeks to the midterm examination.” I grumbled.
“Don’t you get it?” Gabriel asked, and we both looked at him.
“What?” Jeremy asked.
“It’s fate. Fate wants us to meet.” He muttered, and we both hissed.
“Come on, you guys gonna help me.” He whined.
“When did you start to need help in wooing a girl? You are a pro so go for your prey.” Jeremy teased.
“Sophie is different.”
“You said that the last time as well, you said that with every girl you crush on.” Jeremy said.
“No, she is truly different.”
“You said that too.” I muttered.
“Guys don’t you get it? I have never felt this way before. It’s like she is meant for me.”
“Even that.” Jeremy said, and I nodded.
“Guys please. I’m scared something might go wrong. She is no ordinary girl, she win many beauty contest, and she made it to top 15 of the most beautiful teenager in the world. I’m scared something might go wrong, my instinct tells me.” He whined, and we both let out a sigh. “Why can’t you do me a little help? Alex, I support you with Keisha, wholeheartedly.”
“Alex is different.” Jeremy shouted.
“So as Sophie.” Gabriel fired back.
“Fine, let’s go to the cafeteria.”I said.
“Thank you man, I love you next after Sophie.” He shouted, and embraced me, but I pushed him away.
“What a nutcase.” I grumbled.
*
We get to the cafeteria, and Melanie walked up to us.
“Hi boys.” She said, and slipped from Gabriel’s drink to start a fight but he didn’t notice. “What’s wrong with him?” She whispered, and Jeremy pointed at the new girl who is seated three tables away from us. “Again? Don’t tell me he is also ok to her?”
“What’s wrong with her? She is just as perfect as he has been blabbing.” Jeremy said, and I admit. She is indeed beautiful.
“Yuck! What’s so special about her?” She grumbled.
“Don’t tell me you are jealous?” Jeremy teased.
“F¥cking no. She is just getting the attention because she is new, she can never steal my space as the queen here.” Melanie blurted.
“I think Bibi stole that already while you were away.” Jeremy teased.
“But I’m back, and I reclaimed my position.” She said, and we both chuckled.
“Gabriel, why don’t you go and invite her to eat with us. She could make a fine friend with Melanie. Rivals should be friends, it boost the rivalry.” Jeremy said.
“Who said we are rivals? She doesn’t even stand a chance. I’ll win prom queen, and prove it to you all.”
“I doubt.” I muttered, and emptied my glass of water.
“Are you siding with them as well?” She shouted.
“I can’t believe you are already talking about prom when we are yet to write our midterm examination.” Jeremy teased.
“Should I really invite her over?” Gabriel asked, obviously he didn’t hear the others things we talked about.
“You should.” I blurted, and he left the table immediately.
“Go, man. “ Jeremy teased after him.
We watched him walked to her table, and exchanged few words before pointing at our table, and her face brighten up.
“Wow. Seems like he got her.” I said, and Jeremy nodded.
“What do you think? Gabriel is the ladies man, he don’t have to compete over any lady he want, he got that charm.” Jeremy said, and I glared at him -
Although e is right, Gabriel always gets every girl he wants unlike me that failed in both attempts. Truly, everyone with their own charm.
“They are coming, they are coming.” Jeremy said, in excitement, and we all looked at Gabriel who is approaching us in company of the new girl.
“Guys, I hope you don’t mind her joining us.” Gabriel said, and we all smiled in sarcasm. “Sophie, meet my friends, Alex, Jeremy, and Melanie, guys, Sophie.” He said, and we all smiled.
“It’s nice meeting you Sophie. You are as beautiful as the whole school said.” I said, and Melanie scoffed.
“Thank you.” She muttered. “You, I can’t believe we met again.” She said, her gaze directed at Jeremy.
“Me?” Jeremy asked, pointing at himself.
“Yeah, you.”
“Have you met before?” Gabriel asked, and I suddenly got interested.
“My car almost clashed into your bike this morning.” She said, and Gabriel let out a sigh.
“Oh, that. It was my fault. I apologize again.”
“It’s fine. It’s nice to meet you again.”
“Ok, welcome to the table.” Jeremy said, and Gabriel drew out a seat for her.
During the entire meal, she didn’t stop stealing gazes at Jeremy and it seems crazy to me. I can’t believe the girl Gabriel is into, is all over Jeremy. The table was awkward the whole lunch, with Gabriel trying so hard to start a conversation with her. I have never seen him struggling like that with a lady. I guess we were wrong after all, he has no charm, he just got lucky. But this time, I doubt. I couldn’t be more thankful when the bell rang, and we round up from the table - it was a hectic meal.
“Sophie, since you are new in town, we could hang out during the weekend, so I can show you around.” Gabriel said, and she smiled.
“Fine, I did love to hangout with you all.” She said, and I knew she was directing that to Jeremy - well, I shouldn’t get involved.
“I have plans with the Bees this weekend.” Melanie said, and I chuckled.
“Same, I also have plans.” I blurted.
“With the Bees?” Gabriel shouted.
“Of course not. I might hangout with Keisha.” I said, and Melanie let out a sigh.
“It’s fine, Jeremy, you, and I could go.” She said.
“No, I also have plans.” Jeremy said.
“What? You do?” I asked.
“Yeah. I’m going shopping with mum.” He said.
“What a mamas boy.” She teased, and we all chucked.
“Fine. Then we can both hang out together. I’ll take you to places, trust me. You will see how beautiful New York is.” Gabriel said.
“I know. I have seen the map. We can hangout another time, I’m late for class.” She said, and left.
“Really? Did you just got rejected?” Jeremy teased, and I laughed.
“Gosh, where did tutor charms went?” Melanie teased.
“I told you guys, my instincts tells me something will go wrong. But I won’t give up.” He said.
“Go for your babe, man.” I teased.
“Did you all really have plans? If you don’t, let’s go on a trip. I have to get over this rejection. I’m so new to it.” He whined.
“It’s a sign of brewing love.” Jeremy teased.
“What do you know about love?” Gabriel lashed.
“Don’t you guys notice that she has been stealing gazes at Jeremy the whole time?” Melanie said, and we all looked at her.
“It just happened. Because Jeremy was seated opposite her. She was probably staring into space, and Jeremy was right there.” Gabriel said, and I chuckled at his naiveness. “Next time, I’ll be the one to seat there.” He said, and wrapped his hands around Jeremy’s shoulder.
“Never!” I shouted, and they all looked at me.
“Why? Do you want to seat there?” Gabriel asked, and I scoffed.
“She is never eating with us again. I almost had indigestion while feeling bad for you. That girl was giving you a hard time while you were trying hard to hold a conversation with her.” I shouted.
“Yeah. I agree with you. What do you expect? Her ex was a totality from England.” Melanie said, and our eyes widen.
“You don’t mean it.” Jeremy said.
“It’s not true. It’s all a rumor.” Gabriel said.
“Who knows, she might be engaged to a mighty man? Remember, I heard her parents were betrothed since birth and they got married when they were teenagers. She might have a finance ad well.” Melanie said.
“It’s just right. She seems like the type to have one.” Jeremy said, and Gabriel glared at him.
“Enough you guys. Either she has a fiance or not, dated a prince from England or not, that girl is mine and I’m gonna have her. Enough of you guys discouraging me.” Gabriel lashed, and our eyes widen.
“Yoo… lover man.” We all teased, and he left in anger.
“He seems to be serous with her.” Melanie said.
“He has always been that way.” I teased, and we all laughed.
That was just the right drama to get the thoughts of Keisha out of my mind for a while.

I get home later in the evening and stated tossing on my bed. It was such a hectic day, from Keisha absence to Gabriel’s new lover.
I tossed and turned on my bed when a message beep into my phone from Keisha and I jumped up from bed immediately.
💬*I apologize for the late response, it wasn’t on purpose. See you at school tomorrow.* It reads, and my eyes widen.
“See you at school tomorrow, those that mean she is anticipating to see me.” I thought, and became jubilant. I couldn’t take the excitement alone, so I called my friends on video call.
📳Jeremy: Alex what’s up.
📳Gabriel: I’m still angry at you guys for not believing in my love.
📳Melanie: Is this a section for you to yarn? Let’s hear why he called.
📳Me: Guys, I think Keisha missed me as well, I’m going to share my screen now.
[I shared my screen, and they all lashed at me. First, I shouldn’t have called in the group because of Melanie.]
📳Melanie: Seriously? Is this why you called to distract me from my assignment. You have completely lost it Alex. (She left)
📳Jeremy: Man, Melanie left. What do I do? My best friends are crazlly in love. I can’t believe I picked this call to read that nonsense. (He left)
📳Gabriel: Don’t worry buddy, we can do. You got your Keisha, and I got Sophie.
📳Me: I’m off.
I dropped the call and let out a sigh, I gang believe they managed to ruin my mood when I expected them to celebrate with me. Anyways, I still believe the message means that she missed me.

📌Keisha’s POV 📌
•
Mum scold me for hours when I returned home, and I couldn’t utter a word. I could tell that she was passing out all her aggression to me, and was also guilty. She released me after few advice and I returned to my room, I reed Alex messages and texted him back before I reed the message Chris sent to me.
💬*I hope you didn’t get a handful because if me?” It reads and I let out a sigh.
💬*speaking of which, you are in my debt. We will discuss how you pay it off tomorrow.* with that, I dropped my phone.
*
I rode with Stella to school - he ordered a ride.
We got to school, and he went to join his friends while I let out a sigh when I saw Chris and Alex at the parking lot.
“Why did you rode together?” Alex asked.
“Keisha. You real made my day yesterday, thank you.” Chris said, and Alex eyes widen.
“What? You two were together yesterday?” Alex shouted.
“It just happened.” I muttered.
“What just happened? You skip school, ignored my calls making me worried only for you to be with him.” He said, and I let out a sigh.
Thinking about it, I might enjoy his company a lot, and almost fell for him, but I’m glad I didn’t give him a chance, he is too protective and jealous for my liking. I broke up with one of my ex because of that, and I can’t believe I almost got into another.
“Keisha, you promise to tell me how to repay my debt, how should I repay what I owe?” Chris asked, and I let out a sigh.
Yeah, he might seem perfect in his own way, but he loves competition which gives me creeps. He is trying so hard to make Alex jealous and it’s childish to me.
“It’s perfect that you both are here.” I said, and they both looked at me.
*
We stood in the rooftop, and they gave me a confused look.
“Do you want us to combat and you choose the winner?” Alex asked, raising his sleeve, and I scoffed - I rather go for the looser, I really don’t fancy strong men.
“Don’t be too fo0l of yourself, Alex. While you are here clubbing, i was in Germany training myself for this.” Chris boasted.
“Enough. I already tell the both of you, I value our friendship, and it would be nice to keep it. You are both good friends.”
“Why? Are you planning to go out with someone else?” Chris asked.
“Is it that weird junior student?” Alex blurted, with wide eyes - disgusting me.
“Gosh, Alex.” I shouted.
“It better not be him.” He muttered.
“Unless what? What’s so wrong with Stella? It’s just a year different between us, it’s not a big deal.” I said, and they both look at me.
“Be serious, Keisha.”
“To repay my debt Chris. I want us to get along, we don’t have to be best friends, but we should stop all these. Stop trying to make the other jealous, and stop feeling insecure. Like I said, I might as well remain single till I finish high school.” I said.
“Then I’ll follow you all the way to college.” Alex blurted, and I let out a sigh - he is just so stubborn.
“Alex, I believe I just made a point.”
“That applies to Chris not me, he is the one with the debt.”
“You aren’t a saint either. So oblige else I get made at you because of the dare.”
“Come on, I thought we are already over that?” He shouted.
“I could reopen it.”
“Fine. Then we can all get along, but you can’t spend too much time with him.” Alex said.
“Same. You should t send too much time with him.” Chris said.
“How do I managed to get caught in this mess?” I grumbled.
“What did you say?” They both asked.
“Nothing. We can as well just all be together.” I said.
“Better.” They shouted.
“What? Together with him?” Alex was quick to add.
“We will be late for class.” I said, and we all went to class together.
We all entered the class, and all eyes fell on us, most especially me.
“I can’t believe she managed to get them both drooling over her.” A girl grumbled, and I let out a sigh.
We shouldn’t judge a book by its cover, she wouldn’t like to be in my shoes at all.
