A novel of salvage high chapter 34

  Keisha’s POV

Today is such a day. When school dismissed, I packed my books together ready to leave the class when Chris walked up to me.

“Can I have a minute?” He asked, but I ignored him. “I’m sorry, Keisha. I really want to be good friends with you, but my feelings are always getting the best of me.”

“Chris, it’s fine. You are a man, and I’m a woman so your feelings aren’t a curse. But the timing is not right, I’m still trying to put my tact together, so confessing to me like that again, is just adding more pressure to the situation I’m in.”

“So you don’t hate me?” He asked, delightfully.

“Why would I? You are a good friend, you’ve never done anything to hurt me so I’ve reasons.”

“Thank you, Keisha. I’ll be more careful in the future.”

“I got to go, bye.” With that, I left.

I left the class, and someone suddenly wrapped his hand around my shoulder, I was about to twist the hand when I saw it’s Jeremy.

“What?” I shouted, and jabbed his hands away.

“Come on, are you angry with me as well?”

“I already made myself clear to Alex. I don’t want to have anything to do with you all again.”

“That’s mean. But you also did wrong. It’s bad to eavesdrop on other’s conversations, and make judgments based on what you that.”

“What do you mean by that?” I blurted.

“The cctv footage caught you. You eavesdropped on our conversations this morning.”

“So what? What does that change? You all sat together and made a fo0l out of me. You humiliated me, so it changes nothing, either it’s I eavesdrop or not.”

   “Alex already lost the dare.”

   “What do I care?”

“He admit to loss even before you rejected him. I know you won’t believe me, but that dare was meant for Alex to get his confidence again. I won’t explain further, you should hear it from Alex yourself.”

“I don’t care, I don’t want to have anything to do with any of you again.”

“But our friendship wasn’t a dare.”

   “You call that friendship?”

“I won’t say more, Keisha, but you should hear Alex out. And meanwhile, we aren’t the one who broadcasted that. We have no reason to deny it if we were the culprits, so at least believe that.” With that, he left.

I let out a sigh, and went to Stef who was waiting for me in the parking lot.

“I thought you left.” I said.

“Then how will you go home? I waited behind in the library. Hop on, let’s go.” He said, and I nodded.

He was unbelievable today, I never expected him to stand up for me , but he did.

“Keisha, please a minute.” Alex said, running towards us.

  “What again, Alex?”

“I know you are very angry and don’t want to hear me out, but please… just give me a chance to explain myself.”

“I’m keeping Stef waiting, I got to go.”

“Let’s meet later, at the amusement park we went yesterday. I’ll wait for you outside, I won’t leave until you show up.”

“Who cares.” I blurted, and climbed on the bike.

“See you, by 7.” He shouted, but I ignored him.
*
I went to my room and laid on the bed, thinking of how overly dramatic today was. Everything happened to fast, and all I could do was wonder.

I took my phone and went to my friendship group chat that is already inactive. After I left the country side, Stan and Steve two of my friends phone were seized by their parents - they are  cousins, Noel, was transferred to a military boarding school, Jasper got a new girlfriend, and he is always too devoted to his relationships, and only remembers us when he is heartbroken, and Bran who is the last in the group is a very boring person. Theo thoughts that my friendship circle has been broken, and I can’t even reach Kaye and Gigi was so disheartened.

“I miss you all.” I cried.
*
I took a long nap and woke a later, to see a message on my phone from Alex. I ignored the message without even reading the contempt before I went to the kitchen to get something to eat.

I went to the kitchen and microwaved the left over before eating, and after I was satisfied, I went out and saw my mother and stepfather.

“You came home early today.” I said, wondering if it has anything to do with the case they were working on.

“Of course, we must. The weather forecast announced  that it’s going to snow today, so we ensure to be home before the snow.” My stepdad said.

“Oh.” I exclaimed, and went to my room.

Multiple messages beeped into my phone from Alex, and I hissed aloud before I remembered what my stepdad said, and what Alex said earlier

“it’s really going to snow today, and Alex vowed not to leave that place.” I thought, but thought against it. He is g as gullible to stay out in the snow.

I tossed on my bed still bothered by the thoughts, so I took my phone to read his messages, and his last message was a picture of him.

💬*I’m not leaving this place until you show up, Keisha.* It reads, and I let out a sigh before texting back.
💬*Don’t wait for me. For the sake of the friendship I thought we had, I’ll advise you to go home before the snow.*
💬*I don’t care. If that’s my punishment, so be it.* he texted back.

“What on earth is his problem, why is he so stubborn.” I shouted, and dropped my phone. “Who cares about whatever happens to him.” I grumbled, tossing on my bed.

I tried to sleep, but I couldn’t get myself to sleep. The snow started, and I kept wondering if Alex was still there as he said. He seems like someone that keeps to his words, then another thought crossed my mind, wondering if it’s another date.

“Just forget about him, Keisha.” I shouted, and tried hard to sleep.

After successfully driving to dreamland, I had a dream that Alex passed out inside the snow while waiting outside. I jotted from bed in fear, and took my phone to see the last message he sent ten minutes ago.

“He is still there, he is still there.” I exclaimed.
    📌 Alex’s POV 📌
Jeremy’s suggestion was to find a way to talk to her outside scoop because while in the school premises, she will only be reminded of the humiliations she endured. I took the advice, and decide that the amusement park was the perfect place.

When it was almost 8pm, I prepared myself to leave because dad sent a message to me that it’s going to snow today. He knows that I barely listen to the news, so he always makes sure to pass on important informations like that through his secretary.

I got to the parking lot ready to leave when Melanie’s car pulled over.

“What do you want?” I asked, when she alighted.

“Alex, are you really going to throw away our friendship because of a girl?” She asked, and I let out a sigh.

“Keisha was never a problem to our friendship, the problem was you. If you wanted us to remain friends the way you claimed, then you wouldn’t have a problem with Keisha. We would have all been good friends.”

“It was all a dare Alex, so why are you making a fuss about it?”

“You know me well, Melanie. I might hat€ defeat, but I never surrendered to silly dare. I gave in to the date because I knew I had feeling for her, but I was doubting it back then. And the moment I realized it, she rejected me, and you ruined it all.”

  “What? She rejected you?”

“Why? Does that reminds you of how you did the same?”

“Alex, I was too young back then, and I had a lot of problems.”

“That’s past, and this present. What you did now cant be justified.”

   “I’m sorry, Alex. I wasn’t thinking.”

  “Your apology won’t change anything.”

“What can I do to earn your forgiveness?”

“I don’t have time for that, go to Gabriel, he is angrier than me. Once he forgives you, then we are good.” I said, and her face fell.

“But you know how Gabriel is whenever he is angry.”

“That’s your problem, not mine. As you can see I’ve plans, bye.” I said, and hurried to my car while my driver drove off.
*
I got to the park, and waited for almost forever but Keisha didn’t show up. I sent multiple messages that were ignored, and I even went as far as sending her a picture of me, waiting but it yields nothing.

“It’s over, Alex. She seems determined not to show up.” I thought sadly and I allowed myself to be drained by the snow.

I stood there helplessly, until my legs felt too weak to keep standing, and I almost fell but someone held me. I looked up to my savior, and saw it’s her, Keisha.

“Is your health that worthless to you?” She shouted, and I smiled.

“You came, I’m not dreaming.” I muttered, my voice low; and I embraced her.
