A novel of salvage high chapter 32
Melanie’s POV
After I left Alex’s house with my uncle yesterday, I couldn’t stop thinking about our earlier conversation. He seems determination made his intentions look genuine. If I wasn’t aware that it’s all a dare, I could have thought that he really had feelings for her. But thinking about his reactions, I could sense that he already developed feelings for her.
“I’ve to stop this.” I muttered, and started looking for the recording I have on my phone.
I recorded their conversation the last time after Alex kissed Keisha in the cafeteria. We might be friends, but I knew they were hiding things from me. After they lied about Keisha being their friends, and I eavesdropped on their conversation and found out that their friendship with Keisha was just an agreement. They hid that from me, so I was certain that they will hide Alex true intention about the kiss from me as well so I did the unthinkable. I went to our hangout and hid my phone there after ensuing to on the recording, I sneaked out later, and when I went back to take my phone, their entire conversation was a shock to me. We play silly dare games a lot, but Alex has never been game.
I think of the best way to use it, but nothing came to my mind at that point, so I saved it, waiting for the best way to use it.
After Alex bluntly rejected my approach, I made my mind that coming between him and Keisha was the best way to have him back. I was his first love, he proposed to me first, and I rejected him because I had a lot of problems back then, but not anymore. I was willing to get Keisha out of our circle either it’s all a dare or a fact.
I get to school, and intend to combat with her, but I didn’t see her around before the Bees walked up to me.
“Hi, Mel.” They waved.
“Hi, Bees.” I said, and embraced them in turns.
“Are you looking for someone?” Emma asked.
“Yes, Keisha. Have you seen her around?”
“I don’t know. I don’t care about her existence.” Emma blurted.
“Is she really having a thing with Alex?” Bibi asked.
She was also crushing on Alex, and I don’t know if she still has feelings for him, but she is in a relationship.
“A thing with that? You must be kidding me.” I replied.
“But they are always together. Everyone thought they ditched you for her. Like a replacement.” Summer said.
“Replacement, my foot. Just barely hang out with them these days doesn’t mean we aren’t friends anymore. Our friendship circle is still as strong as ever.”
“And even larger.” Eva said, and we all looked at her. “What? Keisha is there, so it’s larger. If she doesn’t have a thing with Alex, then we could only say she is their friend.” She added.
“You told us the friendship was just an agreement to find who send out the black list, but he kissed her after the culprit was found. That’s more than any agreement or friendship to me.” Bibi said, and I made a fist.
“There is nothing between them.” I blurted.
“Then explain the kiss.” Bibi teased.
“It is all a dare.” I shouted, before I realized what I said and they all looked at me.
*
We all went to the dance studio which is basically their quarters, and I played the recording for them.
“Oh, my God.” Bibi exclaimed.
“This is so bad. That girl is so fo0l of herself on just a date.” Emma mocked.
“We should put her in her place. This is just perfect.” Eva said.
“How do we do that?” Summer asked.
“I’m in charge of the broadcasting station, so trust my move.” Eva said, proudly and we all giggled.
*
After the recording was broadcasted, I couldn’t help my anxiety, thinking about how Alex is going to react to it. I didn’t think about that earlier, but now I couldn’t feel at ease.
“Why did you do it, Melanie?” I heard Gabriel’s voice from behind.
“Do what?” I asked, feigning ignorance. I wasn’t expecting him to be the one to confront me.
“Should we do it here?” He asked, and I excused myself.
I followed to a more private place, thinking Alex and Jeremy would be there, but it was just him confronting me.
“What do you want to talk about?” I asked, and he showed me a video on his phone.
“On the day we place the date, I checked the cctv footage in the doorway to our hangout, and you went in there. Of course, asides from the three of us, you are the only one who could have access in our behalf, because no one else knows the passcode. You recorded our conversation, and did this. Do you think it will ever make Alex like you? Or do you think it will make us h@te Keisha?”
“What are you talking about? Do you have prove of he than that?”
“You know me well, Melanie. I could fish out the unthinkable. Do you still want me to find more prove?”
“Fine. I did it.” I blurted. There is no point in denying it.
“Why did you do it?”
“Because I hate her, and you all hide the dare from me. I thought we were best friends, I thought we aren’t supposed to keep things from each other. But no, you all put me behind when I returned, you replaced me with her and made that dare without including me. Is that how best friends work?”
“Melanie’s you might think all that, but it didn’t still justify your actions. Anyways, the deed has been done, nothing can change it but you still have to own up to your mistakes. Go apologize to Keisha.” He said, and I found myself laughing.
“You say?” I asked, still laughing.
“Don’t make me repeat myself. Alex is furious right now, so go apologize to Keisha, and I’ll take care of Alex.”
“What will that change?” I blurted.
“I don’t know. But maybe when she slap you, it will reset you back to the Melanie that I knew for over a decade.” He said, and I scoffed.
“Well… I’m apologizing to nobody. So, are we done here?”
“Yes. And I’m done with you as well. No, we are done with.” He blurted. I have never seen him that serous before, and somehow I was intimidated.
“What do you mean?” I managed to say.
“You are out, Melanie. You are out because you have changed. You aren’t the Melanie that was my best friend.” He said, and walked out.
I controlled myself from calling him back, and returned to the class.
“Was your conversation that serious?” Greene asked when she noticed my mood.
I scoffed and forced a smile. “Of course not, he is just whining. What class do we have next?” I asked, hoping that changes the topic.
“It must be quite serious for you to ask me that. Aren’t you the one who knows the timetable like the back or your hands?” She said, and I let out a sigh.
“This isn’t working.” I thought, and intend to leave the class when Keisha walked in with Chris.
The whole class were talking about her before, but as she walked in, they all became awfully quiet. I let out a sigh and left the class.
I get to our hangout and tried to enter, but the passcode has been reset. After several failed attempts, I gave up and that was when I realized that Gabriel wasn’t capping when he said I was out, they didn’t even go through such length with Jeremy.

📌 Keisha’s POV 📌
•
I left the class when I saw a message in the school group that Stef and Alex were reported to the principal’s office. I ignored the teacher in class and hurried to the principal’s office. I don’t know what my being there will yield, but I’ve to defend Stef somehow. He got into such mess because of me.
I got to the principal’s office and met there all by the reception.
“Keisha.” Alex, was the first to call.
“Stef, are you ok? Are you hurt?” I asked and hurried to Stef, touching his face.
“I’m fine.”
“Yes, you are fine. That’s a relief.” I exclaimed.
“Keisha can we talk?” Alex asked.
“We can do it at the broadcast station so the whole school can follow up. Since that’s the trend now.” I blurted, and his jaw dropped.
“Keisha, it wasn’t me. I wasn’t the one who broadcasted that.”
“And the recording is also voice pitching. You are the victim, Alex. I understand.” I blurted, and he let out a sigh.
“Keisha you shouldn’t be here.” Stef said.
“Why?” I asked, and I got my answers when my stepdad walked out of the principal’s office, with a strange man and a woman with a familiar face. Yes, Jeremy’s sugar mummy.
“Why is she here?” I thought. Indeed I shouldn’t be here.
“Keisha.” My stepdad called.
“What did he say?” Jeremy asked his sugar mummy.
“But why would he bring his sugar mummy here?” I thought.
“Kids, you all should avoid damaging things while you fight. The felid is wide enough.” Theo old man said. Obviously he is Alex’s father, the famous billionaire that had his child at a later age.
“Yes, sir.” The boys chorused.
“Baby, it’s fine. It’s settled. They will let you all go with just a warning.” Jeremy’s sugar mummy said.
“No, Ms. Taylor, they are to volunteer for community services this weekend. That’s the agreement.” The chairman said.
“What?” The boys and I shouted.
“Yes, son. Since you know how to throw a fist, you should also learn to clean the mess.” He said, and patted Alex shoulder before leaving.
“No, dad. You have to talk to the principal. I can’t do that shit.” Alex shouted, but his father waved.
“You can’t ride with me, boy. Call your driver.” He shouted, as he leaves.
“Dad.” Alex shouted.
“Baby, are you going home with me?” Jeremy’s sugar mummy asked, touching his face.
“No. I’ll be home later, see ya.” He said, and pecked her cheek.
“Could she be his mother?” I thought, but she is too young to be his mother. But who cares, either she is his sugar mummy or his mother, I have nothing to do with those friends anymore.
“Keisha, are you aware of the fight?” My stepdad asked.
“It was my fault, sir.” I muttered.
“Your fault?” He repeated, and his phone rang. “I got to go. Stef, you can ride on your bike home. Take care of yourselves , kids.” With that he hurried away.
“Let’s go, Stef.” I said, and held his hand.
“Keisha, at least listen to what I have to say.” Alex said.
“You can go and broadcast it.” I blurted, and dragged Stef away.
