A novel of salvage high chapter 9
Keisha POV
I get home after school and tried to study, using the study guide that Chris wrote for me. But all my efforts to study proves abortive; I’m always distracted by some silly thoughts, it’s either I remember Chris beautiful smile, or I start thinking about my cousin and grandmother.
“This is joy working, I should try reading under the moonlight.” I thought, and made up my mind to read when the moon comes out.
I went to my bed, and started imagining myself passing the midterm examination and getting in contact with Kaye. The first thing I planned to do is urge him into eloping together. It’s either we elope, or I move in with his parents.
When the night falls later, I went to the garden to read but there doesn’t seem to be a moonlight.
“Wow. Just when I’m serious to read, there is no moonlight.” I exclaimed, and laid on the bench till I fell asleep.
*
I woke up later, and gasped to realize it’s past midnight. I packed my books together and head inside. I got to the living room and was surprised to hear voices of my mother and stepfather.
“What? Are they just getting back from work?” I thought; and a side in me was instantly glad that mum could see that I’m putting in effort to study. At least that should bail me out if I didn’t do so well.
I entered the living room, and they froze join seeing me, obviously they were arguing.
“Errrmmm…. Good…, good… night.” I stuttered, confused on how to greet them.
“Keisha, good night.” My stepdad said, and left first.
“Where are you coming from?” Mum asked, and I looked at her.
“Hope she isn’t high to think I’m just coming home?” I thought, and composed myself. “I was in the garden, studying.”
“In the garden?” She repeated.
“Mum, good night. I’ve to go to bed, if I want to pass my midterm exams without extra lectures, I’ve to study hard and sleep well.” I said, and excused myself. Instead of her to applaud my efforts, she was there doubting me.
*
I get to school the following day with intentions to go to Chris and tell him to adjourn our studying to next week. I have already started the week the craziest way, and nothing seem to work out, even the moon didn’t come out for me to study. So I decide to resume my new week the best way, and start studying from next week.

I emerged the hall way, and met the students gathered.
“Oh, it’s her.” The students whispered, and paved way for me to the front; there I met Alex bullying a junior student.
“Are you insane?” I shouted, and pushed him from hitting the student. We might be on an agreement to act cool for a month, but that doesn’t mean I will overlook his behavior, most especially when he is bullying a junior student.

📌Alex POV 📌

Gabriel was able to get the cctv footage for the hallway, and we were able to identify one of the students that sent out the black list order, and to our surprise she was a junior student.
I got to school early, and met Gabriel in the parking lot.
“Why is Jeremy late again?” Gabriel complained.
“Let’a just wait. I’ll make sure to pester him till he split the beans, and you must support me when I do.”
“Of course, I’m also cornered.” He said, and I glared at him. If he hasn’t fallen for Jeremy’s truck yesterday, we would have figured something out.
“What?” He muttered, giving me a weird look. And I looked away.
We waited for close to 10 minutes before a black van pulled over, and a a huge alighted from the passenger’s seat to open the door to the backseat.
“Wow. I wonder who that van is dropping off.” I muttered.
“I hope it’s not our target, because a blow from that man could send us to coma.” Gabriel exclaimed, and I let out a sigh.
To our surprise, Jeremy alighted from the backseat, and our eyes widen agape. Taking me to the time we were at elementary school, different cars always drop him off, and there was a time when one of his car was accompanied by armed men. But when we were in middle school, he started ordering rides to school until he got his bike.
“Why are they dropping him off?” I muttered.
“Obviously, something really happened to his bike.” Gabriel said.
“Sorry, I’m late guys.” Jeremy said.
“Jeremy, why did your uncle dropped you off?” Gabriel asked. Back in elementary school, Jeremy always claimed that his uncle was the one dropping him off.
“I told you I had an accident on my bike, so obviously he gave me a ride to school.” Jeremy said, but there is no way I’m buying that.
“How did you had the accident?” I asked.
“We will discuss that later man, we don’t have time. Gabe, did you get our prey details?” Jeremy asked, avoiding my question.
“Come on Jerry, you really have to be honey with us. We’re your friends.” I lashed.
“Are we really doing this out here?” Jeremy asked, and we looked at the few students looking.
“Let’s go man, we will get to this later.” Gabriel said, and we all went in.
*
Luckily, our target was just there. I went to confront her, and the students started to gather, but before I could get anything from her, Keisha butt in, and pushed me away.
“Kei, stay out of this.” Gabriel cautioned, but she glared at him dauntlessly.
“Why? You think because we’re cool I can allow you to bully others? A junior student at that. Aren’t you ashamed of yourself?” She blurted, and everyone gasped.
“You don’t even know anything, sisi.” Jeremy shouted, and intend to hit Keisha; but I held him back.
“What could a junior student ever do to you to deserve being bullied?” She lashed, and helped the girl up. “Are you ok?” She asked the girl; who nodded, and ran off. Before she glared at me.
“What do you think of me Keisha?” I asked, walking closer to her.
She was obviously intimidated, and she started taking few steps back.
“What…”. She muttered, her voice fading away.
“Do you think I just pick out students and bully them?” I asked, staring directly at her.
“Isn’t that what you are doing?” She shouted, after she composed herself.
“Is that so?” I muttered, within clenched teeth; when Chris stepped in. And we all looked at him.
“Let’s do a quick revision before class, Keisha.” He said, and held her hand.
“Come on, man, let’s go. See you around, Kei.” Gabriel said, and dragged me away.
**
“Guy, you should’ve allow me teach her a lesson.” Jeremy rants.
“She don’t even know anything, and she butt in like some superhero. That girl really has guts.” Gabriel said, unable to control his laughters.
“What’s funny, Gabe? Can’t you be delusional for once?” Jeremy lashed.
“Hey, why are you taking this out on me? I’m not the one that stopped you from hitting her.”
“Will you all be quiet?” I shouted.
“Alex, we already know who sent those stuffs, we just have to deal with that kid to find out who sent her. But we can’t let Keisha go freely this time. We have to end the nonsense and deal with her.” Jeremy said.
“I agree with Jerry. She doesn’t even know what happened before butting in.” Gabriel added.
“She butt in, that’s a point. But when did Chris start interfering in our business?” I muttered, and they both looked at me obviously puzzled. I understand their reaction because I’m confused myself. I don’t understand why Chris interference bothered me more than her misunderstanding.
“Alex, is that really your concern now?” Jeremy asked.
“Let’s go.” I muttered, and stood up.
“Where to?” Gabriel asked.
“To get back at them.” I muttered.
“I love this.” Gabriel giggled, and we all went to class.
We get to class but didn’t see Keisha, neither Chris. I let out a sigh already pissed when Keisha entered the class, followed by Chris. Immediately she saw me, she turned back to leave.
“Keisha, wait.” I shouted, and ran after her.
“What? What do you want?” I asked, in fear.
“What’s your deal with that nerd?” I found myself asking, and my friends gasped.
“Guy, what are you saying?” Jeremy asked.
“What? Chris, Chris and I are friends. Just because I’m friends with you doesn’t mean I can’t be friends with others.
“Friends my foot.” I grumbled, and Jeremy hit me.
“What do you want from me?” Keisha asked.
“Kei, we understand that you were fighting for a junior student, but you should at least have some respect for our friendship even though it’s all presence. That girl earlier was the one who sent out that black list in disguise as us. Alex was trying to make her confess who put her up to it before you butt in. Don’t have the wrong ideas about us, we aren’t some shameless elites that would sloop so low to bully junior students.” Gabriel said, and we all looked at him.
“Is…, is that so?” She muttered, her voice low.
“This is no fun.” Jeremy whispered, and let out a sigh.
“Let’s get out of here, man.” Gabriel said, and dragged me away, while Jeremy glared at Keisha before he followed.

📌Keisha POV📌
•
After Alex left with his friends, I realized my mistakes and started feeling guilty. I was always a poor judge so I don’t blame myself. But Alex and his friends seem really disappointed, and I started thinking of the best way to apologize to them. I returned to class, and tried as much as possible to avoid glances with them till its recess.
I thought of how best to apologize, and went to their paradise.
“What makes you think you could barge in here?” Jeremy lashed, and Gabriel held him back. He seems to be the most temperamental one among them.
“What do you want? Are you here to judge us again?” Alex asked, and I could tell that he was hurt.
“I made a mistake, I apologize. I promise to make it up to you, I’ll help you question her instead, and get to the bottom of everything. So let’s be cool again.” I said, rushing my words.
“Don’t get ahead of yourself Keisha, we were never cool. It’s just an agreement to find out who was behind this, and we already did. So, we have no reason to pretend anymore. Because obviously, we can never get along.” Jeremy said, and I kinda agree with him. But it’s still right to set things straight.
“I guess I’m done here.” I muttered, and bowed before leaving.
“Let’s sort it out together, Keisha.” Alex said, and I stopped at my track to look at him.
“Alex, what are you saying?” Jeremy grumbled.
“Stop hanging around with that nerd, until our agreement expires, let’s catch the bad guys together.” He said, and stretched his hand for a shake.
His words almost sounds like a proposal to me but I jot out of my delusional self to receive his handshake.

Gabriel suggests we go to the cafeteria together to eat, and when we got there, everyone gasped upon seeing us.
“I’m sure you know our table, you were the first intruder who dares to seat there.” Gabriel said, and I laughed sarcastically.
We got to the table and Gabriel drew out a seat for me. I hesitated for a while before I intend to seat, and someone held me back. I looked up to see Chris.
“Chris?” I called questioning, wondering what he wants.
“We were unable to complete our revision earlier.” He said, and dragged me.
“She is still having lunch.” Alex muttered, and dragged me back.
They both glared at each other dragging my hands.
