A novel of salvage high chapter 7

          Alex POV.
I carried Keisha out of the cafeteria - bridal style. And everyone opened their mouth agape. He headed out, and Keisha hand was still wrapped around his neck; before she got her senses and tried to free herself.

   “Drop me down.” She shouted.

“No way, we are screwed.” Gabriel teased.

“Let me go, let me go now.” She shouted, and succeed in freeing herself. She is indeed as strong as she acts.

She turned to leave, but Jeremy dragged her back by her hair.

   “Argghh…”. She screamed.

“Jeremy, what are you doing?” I shouted, and he released her immediately.

“I’m sorry, I just rented to stop her.”

“What do you think you are doing? Do you think you could drag me down here to bully me?” I shouted.

“Hey, sisi. No one is trying to bully you. Just come with me, and let’s have a peaceful chat.” Gabriel said, and wrapped his hands around her shoulder; leading her to our hideout.

We entered our hangout, and she opened her mouth awed.

“Wow, this place is so beautiful.” She complimented.

“Come on, aren’t you scared of what we can do for you in such a beautiful place?” Gabriel teased, and she became alarmed.

“What do you want from me?” She asked.

“Relax. I shouldn’t be doing this right now because I really want to get back at you for everything you did to me, but I’ll let that slide now. So, let’s be a team.” I said, and made a fist. I could never imagine slopping so low to her.

She let out a small laugh in disbelief, before she placed her hands akimbo.

“What do you want?” She asked, obviously ready for the worse.

“At least have a seat. It’s safe this time.” Gabriel said, gesturing her to sit.

We all sat down, and I head straight to business.  I explained the black list situation to her, leaving her confused.

“What are you insinuating?” She asked.

“We already checked your grades, so we don’t expect anything.” Gabriel teased, and she glared at him.

“In layman’s words, we simply want us to act like we are cool, let’s pretend to cooperate till we find the person that impersonates us by sending out that order, so you can also be free. It’s a win-win for everyone.” Jeremy said.

“Exactly why I’m confused. Why are you concerned when I’m sure that you also want to get back at me.” She said, and I applauded her intelligence.

“Because we aren’t sneaks. If anyone should send out that black list, it should be me. So I’ll fully take responsibility for it, and put you in your place.” I said, and she looked at me.

“We will get back at you at our own time, so for now, let’s be a team.” Gabriel proposed, extending his hand for a shake.

     “Until when?” Keisha asked.

“For a month, let’s work together for a month.” I said.

“Isn’t a month too much? We just have to find the impersonator.” Jeremy said, and Gabriel nodded along.

“Let’s work together until you find the impersonator within a month.” She said.

“I won’t extend my hand for a shake again, but anyways; welcome to our world.” Gabriel said, and she started looking around.

“Wow. This place is so beautiful, it’s like a whole apartment on its own.” She exclaimed, and started looking around.

“Of course. This is the way we hall at school. Do you want a tour?” Gabriel asked, and we both looked at him.

“Yes, with all pleasure.” She said all smiles.

“Gabe seems to have gotten a new bestie.” I teased, and Jeremy scoffed.

    📌KEISHA POV 📌
We ordered for lunch, and ate together in their little paradise while Gabriel and I chat all through. After recess, we returned to class together, and the whole class seem puzzled. I waved at Chris who looked away immediately before I went to my seat.

When school dismissed, I went to the parking lot and let out a sigh in frustration. Riding bicycle was fun back in the countryside because I don’t ride it alone. Kaye and I always find our way to each other school whenever school dismisses to go home together. But riding here makes me feel like an outcast.

“That woman is just the worst.” I grumbled be for dragging out my bicycle.

“Who still ride bicycle to school in this generation?” I heard someone teased from behind.

“Obviously, me.” I lashed, and turned around to see its Gabriel. “Oh, Gabe.”

“Wow. You are always ready to throw a fist.” He teased.

“Is your car parked here?” I asked, hoping he offers to give me a ride.

He pressed his car keys, and a fancy car horned right beside my bicycle.

“Wow. Your car is right there.” I said, smiling beautiful.

Gabriel and I rode side-by-side before he ride ahead of me, waving me goodbye from his window.

“What do I expect from a bully?” I cursed, riding all the way home.

*
I get home, and started finding it difficult to work on my assignments. Don’t blame me, I was never smart. I struggle to pass each class so I won’t repeat classes and would surely struggle till I graduate from high school.

I was playing with my pen for over an hour, thinking about everything that happened today. No doubts, Gabriel is really nice among them but despite all, I shouldn’t try to build friendship with any of them since it will all end in a month. I was engrossed in my thoughts when I heard a loud scream from outside. I ran out, and trace the noise to Queen’s room.

“What on earth happened to her?” I thought, and decided to mind my business, but my curiously got the best of me, so I opened the door and entered her room to see pile of clothes on her bed.

“How dare you barge into my room?” She lashed at me.

“Sorry. I could see you are fine, so I’ll excuse myself.” I said, and intend to leave; but she stopped me.

“Wait!” She muttered, her voice fading away; and I turned to look at her.
**
I helped her find a nice clothe to wear for the birthday party she was attending. I might prefer to dress like a tomboy, but I’ve a high sense of fashion.

“Wow sis, you’re the best.” She screamed in excitement, and embraced me.

I was astounded for a moment before she released with a bright smile. Wow, she is not as bad as I thought, I’m always a bad judge of character.

We both arranged her clothes back in the closet together, and she complained about how mum hates it whenever we room is untidy. I felt an itch of jealousness at the thought that mum was nothing but a stranger to me; but I let the thoughts slide.

When we were done arranging the clothes, I asked her about Stef. Because I’ve always been curious about him.

“I know nothing about him, the least I knew was that he is always on his headset. Even when I was younger. He doesn’t talk to anyone, and I almost assumed that he was dumb.”

    “Wow. Interesting.”

“But he talked to you. What did you guys actually talked about?”

“I went to ask him about some school stuff, nothing important. Have you ever tried talking to him?”

“Never. He is just that annoying half big brother that k I wished I never had.” She blurted, and we both laughed.

She left for her party later, and I went to my room planning on how to confront my mum. If she won’t let me visit grandma and Kaye, but I should at least get their contact.

Queen returned before dinner, and we both ate dinner together. She went to her room, while I wait behind, anticipatory mum return.

She arrived home late before midnight, and I went to welcome her.

“Hey, baby. Don’t tell me you were waiting for me.” She said, obviously excited.

“Yes. Because I’ve something to ask you.”

   “Gosh, I’m tried from work.”

“I don’t care, it’s either we talk now, or I runaway.” I threaten.

“Gosh, fine, let’s talk.” She surrendered, and went to sit.

I stood beside her with hands akimbo, and I requested Kaye and grandma’s number.

“Your midterm examinations are behind the corners, if you pass above 50%, I’ll consider your request.” She said, and my eyes widen.

“What concerns Kaye with my result?” I almost  cried.

“Your report from your previous school are not impressing, it’s gonna be a struggle for you to get into college if you graduate that way. Kaye is doing fine, same as mum. So take care of yourself before worrying about others.” She blurted.

“Then get me a private tutor, or enroll me in an academy.”

“I won’t do that, you will take care of yourself. Queen and Chris grades are just fine without private classes, so sort out yourself.” She blurted, and headed  to her room.

Everyone around me seems to be doing well with their grades expect me. Now, I need to find a way to improve, otherwise I ever hear from my grandmother and Kaye again.
*
I get to school the following day, and found myself doing the silliest things ever. I went to a girl in the class, and tap her to look at me.

“Hey.” She muttered, a bit confused.

“Fiona, right?” I asked, calling the name on her name tag.

“Yesss… how may I help you?”

“Can you help me with the names of the top five intelligent student in this class?” I asked.

“That should be Chris, Alex, Briana, Jess and Tina. Hi, I’m Amy.” A girl said from behind.

“Oh, thanks.” I muttered, and went to Chris.

If I would improve my grades now that the midterm exams are behind the corners, and I just resumed three days ago, I must get a private tutor. Because there is no miracles could help me. From all the names mentioned, Chris is the only one I could go to Alex since our deal is just a month, I can’t be too friendly. While Briana, Jess and Tina - I don’t even know them.

“What do you want?” Chris asked, his voice cold.

“You don’t have to feel guilty anymore, let’s be even now.” I said, and he looked at me.

    “What do you mean?”

“I got entangled in a lot of mess because of you when I just resumed, so it’s time for you to take responsibility.”

“What? I thought you were already cool with Alex?”

“Yes I’m, but it can’t feel the void of the things I missed out when I just transferred, and the midterm examinations are behind the corner.”

“So, I do I take responsibility for that?”

“Good. Be mh private tutor, like, a study buddy.” I said, and stretched my hands for a shake.

“Why should I? If you need a study buddy go meet your friends. If you need a private tutor, you tire own.” He lashed, and I made a fist - gosh the plan didn’t work.

“Why can’t you? We just have to study together for few minutes after school. My grades are bad enough, and now I’m on a brick. Can’t you at least help a comrade.” I pleaded., but it didn’t seem to work either.

“Just go and study.” He teased, and I glared at him with a fist.

I turned to leave when I saw Alex and his friends entered the class.

   “Hi, Kei.” Gabriel waved.

“Let’s start after school today.” Chris said, and I turned to look at him.

   “Really?”

“Just until the midterm examination.” He said, and I smiled - wondering what made him change his mind.
