A novel of salvage high chapter 19
Alex’s POV
Chris was unbelievable today, taking me off guard with his confrontation and I couldn’t help but attack him as well.
Keisha suddenly appeared to side with him and ran off right after was also offensive.
“Gosh, Alex you are acting too well for a mere dare? Is that how much you want to save your money and seize my car? Including Jeremy’s kidney?” Gabriel teased, and Jeremy gave him a warning look. “What?” He shouted.
“Alex, you have to relax. Chris has been so good to Keisha while we do nothing but threaten to bully her once our agreement is off. So, it’s just natural.” Jeremy said, and I looked at him.
“Let’s go to class.” Were the only words that escaped my mouth.
*
We got to class, and all eyes fell on us. The teacher entered the classroom right after and I eye search for Keisha but she wasn’t in class, and I noticed that Chris was not in class as well.
“F¥ck!” I shouted, and ran out of the class.
“Mr. Gray.” The teacher shouted, and my friends ran after me.
I stopped on my track when I saw Keisha and Chris coming our way.
“Keisha, are you ok?” I asked, and hurried to her. The look on her face tells that they had some misunderstanding.
“I’m fine.” She muttered, which is unlike her; and continued on her way.
“Hey, what did you do to my Keisha?” I shouted, and aimed at Chris; but Jeremy held me back.
“We are late for class, bro.” Jeremy said, and dragged me away.
We all get to class, and the teacher pardoned us to join the class.
Throughout the class, I couldn’t stop looking at Chris and Keisha. Something is definitely off. I controlled the urge to go meet her during the classes, and couldn’t be more thankful when the bell rang for recess.
I left my seat immediately, and went to Keisha.
“Let’s go have lunch.” I said, and she looked at me.
“I’m not hungry.” She muttered, her voice low.
“Then let’s go out, we can just hangout with the boys.” I said, and she shakes her head.
“I don’t feel like leaving the class, I’m fine here.”
“What do you mean you are fine? It’s recess, we should leave the class.”
“No law stated that.”
“What did that motherf¥cker did to you?” I uproar, unable to held back my emotions.
“Can’t you all just leave me alone? I said I’m fine. I don’t want to leave the class, can’t you just understand that?” She shouted, and ran out of the class.
I intend to go after her, but Jeremy held me back.
“Let her be, man.”
“This class is stuffy, we should leave before recess is over.” Gabriel said.
I ignored him and went to Chris who was about to leave the class.
“What did you do to Keisha?” I asked, grabbing him by the collar.
“Alex, let me go. You don’t have a prove that I did anything to her.”
“Is that so? Be thankful that I don’t have any, because if I do, I’ll make sure you are forced to transfer before your graduation.” I threaten.
“Lay a finger on Keisha, and let’s see who will transfer.” Chris threatened and left the class.
“Wow. The nerd was so scary there.” Gabriel said.
“Wassup with that nerd?” Jeremy said.
“What’s his surname?” Alex asked.
“Skull or Brian, something related to the head.” Gabriel replied.
“Let’s find out more about him.” I muttered, and left the class.
“He really got some nerve.” Gabriel said, trailing behind me.
“Doesn’t it seem like Melanie has been avoiding us these days?” Jeremy said.
“Yeah. She has been with the girls more often. She left the class with Greenie and the twins.” Gabriel said.
“She even switched seats.” Jeremy added.
Just let her be. She is just catching up with the girls.” I said.
“Sure, she will soon miss us and come running. If she doesn’t return before the midterm examination, she is not included in our summer trip.” Gabriel said, and Jeremy hit his back.
“Something is really fishy about that Chris guy, I wasn’t curious before, but now I’ll make sure I find out.” I grumbled, and they both let out a sigh.

📌 Keisha’s POV 📌
•
I sat on the rooftop deep in thoughts. Everything that has been happening so far is really unexpected. First, I was brought to the city, separated from the family I’ve grown used to, and I was forced into an family unfamiliar family. A mother that was likely a stranger, a traumatized stepbrother, annoying half-sister, and a stepfather that is trying so hard to care. As if all that is not enough, I’m now caught in the middle of a bully and a nerd in school. I never expected my life should turn around drastically like this.
“I really need an escape.” I thought as I remembered Chris sudden confession.
*
FLASHBACK to my conversation with Chris ***
*
I was taken aback by the sudden embrace, and I tried to push him away but he held me tighter.
“I want to protect you from Alex, Keisha. Because I like you.” He whispered in my ears, and my eyes widen in shock.
I managed to free myself from him, and looked at him, doubting my ears.
“What…? What did you say?” I asked, taken aback.
“It’s as you heard it, Keisha. So please, stay away from Alex.” He said, and I blinked rapidly.
“Chris, we are running late for class.” I said, and turned to leave; but he held me back.
“Are you rejecting me?” He asked.
“Please… let’s just go to class.” I said, and left while he trailed after me.
*
FLASHBACK ENDS***
*
“Arrgghhhh…”. I screamed looking down from the rooftop.
“Do you want to jump off?” I heard someone say, and I almost fell but he was quick to held me - Stella.
“Stella.” I called, and he helped me get my balance.
“Should we jump off together?” He asked, and I glared at him.
“You are annoying.” I grumbled, and went to sit down.
“I never knew I could meet you here, I would have brought some snacks.” He said, and I chuckled. “Are you troubled?” He asked, and I looked at him.
He was licking a stick candy playfully. “Do you care?” He asked, stretching the candy to me, but I scoffed.
“You can’t be serious.” I said, and he chewed the candy’s before throwing the stick away.
“It’s gone.” He said, smiling brightly.
“Can you please pretend to be invisible? I really want to be alone right now.”
“Too bad, I stand out too much to be invisible.” He said, and I chuckled.
I was once like him, living each school day peacefully without worries m, but now, I doubt if I’ll ever have such blissful memories again.
“Do you have a girlfriend?” I found myself asking.
“Yes. I’m even two-timing.” He said, and I looked at him. Anyone could tell that he is a player.
“Wow. I never expected you to be that famous” I teased.
“I’m engaged, but I’ve a girlfriend too, so you can say I’m quite famous.” He boasted.
“Wow. That’s interesting. Who could have thought you were engaged?”
“Gosh, it’s so complicated. But the exciting part is that my fiancée and girlfriend are both beautiful.”
“Is she in this school? Your fiancée?”
Yes she is, but we aren’t in same class, and she has a boyfriend as well. But my girlfriend and I are class mates and seat mates, it’s like we are destined to date. Do you know Olivia? She is quite famous. She is the leader of the popular girl’s band, Golden.”
“Oh!” I exclaimed. I’m not really a fan of girls band, I prefer boys band, there I can crush on all the handsome members, and get heartbroken afterwards.. “Have you ever been rejected before? By a girl?” I asked, and he looked at me.
“Never! I’m a catch in my own domain. Girls ask me out, so no one dares to reject me.” He boasted, and I chuckled. “Are you thinking of rejecting Alex?” He asked, and my eyes widen.
“What are you talking about? Reject who? Who said Alex is asking me out? Just because he kissed me, you are already assuming too much.”
“I believe he likes you.”
“Come on, don’t say such.”
“Ive known Alex for almost a decade, but he never kissed a girl before. If it were Gabriel and Jeremy, I won’t bring too much from it.”
“What do you mean?”
“Alex has never kissed a girl in school before, and I doubt if he ever had a girlfriend. But those his friends, gosh. Most especially Gabriel, he is quite the ladies man.“
“So, Alex has never dated anyone before?”
“None that I know of. We have been schoolmates since elementary school, and Melanie their friend is the only girl he is always seen with before you entered the picture. But who knows, he might be engaged and probably loyal to his partner.”
“I thought you loathe Alex.”
“Yes, I do. I don’t like the way he bully others so you got my respect when you showed up. No one has ever standup to him.” He said, and I looked at him.
“Gosh! I’m so lost right now.” I shouted.
“Do you wanna run marathon with me?” He asked, and I looked at him. “Come on, it will help you clear your head.” He added, and dragged me up.
I allow him drag me, and we both ran down together. All eyes fell on us as we ran past the students, running round the school field.
*
“Wow! I love this.” I shouted, and we both laid on the field, breathing heavily.
“How do you feel now?” Stella asked.
“Much better. I feel like I could collapse.” I shouted.
“Is this really fun to you?” I heard Alex asked, and I stood up immediately.
Stella stood up as well, and stand in front of me, like he could protect me from Alex.
“Relax, I’m not gonna hurt your momma.” Alex teased, and we all looked at him.
“What do you want Alex?” I asked.
“Let’s go to class, recess is over.” He said, and held me.
“Yoo… I’ll be late for class. See ya…”. Stella shouted, and blew me a kiss before he ran off.
“Gosh, he seems to have a lot of energy.” I whispered.
“Are you tried? Should I give you a piggyback ride?” Alex asked, and I hit him playfully.
“Come on, let’s go.” I said, and we both laughed.
*
We both held hands and entered the class together. All eyes fell on us, and I instantly released my hand from his when I sighted Chris.
I hurried to my seat, and Alex chuckled before going to his seat.
*
When school dismissed, I hurried out of the class and went to my bike, but Alex was quick to catch up with me before I rode off.
“Keisha, let me give you a ride.”
“No, it’s fine. We aren’t heading to the same direction.” I replied .
“Keisha, are you leaving already?” I heard Chris asked from behind.
I turned around and let out a sigh, wondering what I’ve gotten myself into.
“Yeah. Bye.”
“Wait. We aren’t done working on that stuff.” Chris said.
“Oh, that?”
“What stuff?” Alex asked.
“None of your business.” Chris blurted.
“Keisha, what is he talking about?”
“You two should let me be, please. I’m going home on my bike, so let me be.” I shouted.
“I offered to give you a ride. Remember you promised to cooperate.”
“That was a big mistake.” I grumbled.
“What is he talking about? Is he threshing you?” Chris asked.
“For goodness sake.” I shouted.
“Keisha, is coming with me.” I heard a voice said from behind.
The voice sounds amiliar and also unfamiliar. I turned around and was surprised to see Stef.
“Who is he?” They both asked.
“The person Keisha is leaving with.” Stef said, and my face brighten. I never expected him to be that hold.
“Yes, let’s go.” I said, and held his hand.
He lead me to his power bike that I’ve been dreaming to ride on, and we speed off.
“I love this.” I shouted, throwing my hands in the air.
