A novel of salvage high chapter 16

   Keisha’s POV

I woke up earlier than usual and left the house very early to school. I couldn’t sleep all night, I was thinking of a way to improve in the midterm examination, and I successfully came up with a plan. Cutting ties with Alex and his friends would be a good start.

I get to school, and went to class. There I met Chris seated alone in the class.  I intentionally came early because of him, because i heard that he is always the first to come to school. Meanwhile the news was valid, I tried to come early, but he still came earlier.

“Hi, Chris.” I waved, but he is on EarPods so I can’t tell if he didn’t hear, pr he is ignoring me. “Chris.” I shouted, knocking on his desk, and he glared at me.

  “What?” He muttered, harshly.

“Why are you being so harsh? I said you should stop interfering, not to stop talking to me.” I said.

“But I don’t want to. I felt insulted after the last time, so I don’t want to talk to you.” He said, and I inwardly applaud his honestly.

“There is a reason why I suddenly became friends with Alex.”

   “I don’t care.”

“I want you to help me with the project assignment. I must pass this coming examination. So, just listen to me.”

“You called it quit, remember? You asked us to stop studying together.”

“That was because I was worried. I was worried that you were too concern. I was scared that you did be affected as well once Alex gets back at me after our deal is off.” I shouted.

“What deal?” He asked, already calm.

“I thought you were not interested.” I grumbled, and he looked away. “I will sort out my issue with Alex, give me 3 days, I’ll sort out the situation I’ve with Alex. So, please ….help me with my studies. Give me a second chance.” I lament, and he looked at me.

“I don’t know whatever issue you have with Alex, but I hope you sort it. Afterwards, you can come to me, I’ll help you with your studies.” He sai, and my face brighten up.

“Thank you, Chris “ I said, and ran out of the class.
*
I had it all planned out, I knew the idea was gonna work. Now I just have to find the culprit, and be free from Alex. I don’t know what they plan to do to me afterwards, but I prefer to worry about my studies for now.

I went to the juniors black and started asking around for Stella. He is the only one that I could think of going to now. Thankfully I knew he was a junior through his uniform, and his unique name was enough to find him. If the girl Alex caught was a junior, so I could just use Stella’s help to find the real culprit.

Finding Stella was so easy because he seems to be famous in the juniors realm. When I found him, I headed straight to be point, and he was glad to be of help.

“I’ll do everything for you, Ms. Fearless.” He said, and bowed. He gestured his friends to bow as well, and they did the same - making me feel embarrassed.

“Gosh.” I whispered. “I really appreciate your help, thank you all.”

“So, can I get a hug?” Stella asked, batting his lashes.

“Why is he so weird.” I thought. “Don‘t worry, I owe you one after the mission is completed.” I said, and ran off.

“I love you.” Stella shouted after me.

   “What a weirdo.” I grumbled.

I almost got to the seniors block when I heard some students shouting ‘Ms. Fearless’ and I found myself turning around to see Stella’s friend.

“We already caught her.” They shouted.

“You what?” I shouted back, and we both ran back in.

I got to the scene and saw Stella holding the culprit.

“It was her. The one who created the anti-fan group.” He said, confusing me.

“What anti-fan? I told you I..-“ I was saying, but  he interjected.

“…-yes, she was also the one behind it.”

“What? It was you?” I shouted, in bewilderment.

She looks so innocent, and she was the least person anyone could suspect.

“So, what? What if it was me ?” She shouted, and everyone gasped.

“Hey, watch the way you speak to her, she is our senior, and my role model.” Stella said, but I ignored him - I’m not ready to deal with the weirdo now.

“So what? What if you are a senior?” She shouted, glaring at me through her glasses.

“Wow. The junior students are more scary than I thought.” I thought, and they all looked at me. That was when I realized that I said that out loud.

“Sweetheart, I’m not the one you need to explain to.” I said patting her hair; and Alex joined us.

Finally, to save me from the scary junior student.
*
After dealing with the student, I followed them to their paradise to officially put an end to our agreemen. Although we never signed an official agreement, but it’s still proper for me to put an end to it the best way I can.

Alex suddenly started acting unusual, and I couldn’t help but be scared of him. I thought he was scheming his revenge. So as he walked closer to me, I counted each step back in fear; until I almost fall, and he held me very close to him. He stared at me intensively, and I started feeling  chills.

“What are you doing?” I managed to ask. I don’t understand why I felt too weak to get my balance.

“I don’t know.” He replied, moving my lips down to hers.
.
I batted my lashes rapidly as I realized what he was about to do, so I instantly pushed him away before he do.

“We are late for class.” I shouted, and ran out.

I stood by the corridor for a while trying to catch my breath. I don’t understand why my heart was  racing so fast. Was it because I ran too fast? Or because…. Whatever, whatever. I don’t care. I already ended the agreement between us, I should focus on my studies now.
*
I get to class and met the teacher in, but he pardoned me, and I went to my seat. Melanie already switched seats with my previous seat mate, so I believed Alex already contacted her to cut ties with me.

   “Who cares?” I grumbled.

Alex and his friends didn’t come to class all through till recess break. Everyone left the class, and I went to Chris.

“Hi, Chris. I told you I’d end things with Alex, and it’s done. I told you to give me three days, but I barely used three hours.” I boasted.

“Are you ok?” He asked. It almost sounded like an insult, but his expression said otherwise. - he was obviously concerned.

“I’m not.” I said, and he looked at me. “But I’ll be, if you help me with the assignment.” I said, and he tried to shallow a chuckle.

“Fine. We should go grab lunch first.” He said and stood up to leave, but I held him back.

“No. You go, I’m not hungry.” I said.  I most avoid any public gathering as much as I can, because I don’t know what Alex has in stock for me.

“Is Alex threatening you?” He asked.

“No, no, not that. It’s that rare day that you have no appetite. I’m filled with excitement. I caught the culprit, and you will help me with my assignment. I’m on a steak right now.” I giggled.

“What culprit?” He asked, and I realized that I talked too much again.

“Chris, it’s a complicated long story. And I’m sore you can easily tell that I don’t want to talk about it.” I said, and he held my hand.

“Then let’s go have lunch.” He said, dragging me out.

“He has too much courage to be a nerd. This dude surely got something off his sleeve, covering it with nerdy act.” I thought, and allowed him drag me.

  📌 Alex’s POV 📌
After Keisha ran out, Gabriel won’t stop teasing me that I got rejected again. But Jeremy didn’t take it funny. At times, I don’t understand Jeremy, and I doubt if I’ll ever.

“So, you really had feeling for Keisha?” Jeremy said.

“He obviously does. But she turned him down. Imagine the way she pushed him when he was trying to kiss her. Do you smell? Gosh, this will make a headline.” Gabriel mocked, annoying me.

“Shut up, Gabe. This isn’t funny.” Jeremy said, and I agreed with him on that.

“I know. My best friend got rejected twice, it’s emotional rather than funny. But I can’t help it.” He teased.

“I wasn’t rejected, and I don’t like her.” I shouted. They are beginning to get on my nerves.

“Explain the kiss!” They both shouted.

“What? Why are you acting like we are saints? We all get klssed by random strangers each time we go clubbing. Gabe, you even had a nightstand.” I said, and they both became calm.

“Must you put it that way?” Gabriel grumbled.

   “I’m just saying.” I said.

“So, what? Are you trying to compare Keisha with a wh0re? Jeremy said, taking my words around.

“Not that. I was just caught in the moment. She was about to fall and I held her. Here lips were irresistible. I was just… anyways, it’s just perfect that she ran off.” I said, and went to the studio.

“Aren’t we going to class?” Gabriel shouted after me.

    “Suit yourselves.” I blurted.

“I think he likes her.” I heard Gabriel said.

   “What a nutcase.” I grumbled.
*
We all stayed back there till the bell rang for recess, and I suggested that we order in.

“Why? Are you ashamed to face her?” Jeremy blurted.

“What do you mean? I just prefer a peaceful lunch. We all love that.” I said, and looked at Gabriel. At time like this, he is always helpful.

“Yea we do, but not today. Jeremy and I want to eat at the cafe, majority wins the vote.” Gabriel said, and raised Jeremy hand up.

    “Then suit yourselves.” I shouted.
*
We all got to the cafe, and saw Keisha and Chris together.

“Why are they together?” I muttered, loud enough for my friends to hear.

“She stopped interacting with him. I even thought they had a fight.” Jeremy said.

“Did she turned you down for him?” Gabriel teased, and I shot him a glare. “What? I’m just being frank. She stopped being friends with us, and now she suddenly found a new bestie. Gosh, man. This is bad.” He added.

“Enough, Gabe. Alex wasn’t regretted, because he never confessed.” Jeremy said, and I nodded.

“But he would have, after the kiss. Gosh, there wasn’t a kiss.” Gabriel grumbled.

I wish I could just seal his lips together to get him to be quiet for few days.

Keisha went to buy lunch with Chris, and were both going to a table when she sighted us. She stopped on her track looking at us, and Chris held her hand when he noticed.

“I think they are talking about us.” Gabriel said.

“You think too much, come on let’s go sit.” Jeremy said, and dragged Gabriel, but I felt glued to the tie.

“Come on, Alex.” Gabriel called out.

“My wooomaaaaaaannnnn…”. We heard someone shouted.

I turned to see that junior student with a famine name running to Keisha, and suddenly embraced her.

“What? She ditched you for that?” Gabriel shouted.

I couldn’t condole it anymore, and I found myself approaching them; forcefully separating the hug, and pushed the junior student to the ground.

Everyone at the cafeteria gasped, and they all started gathering around us.

“What are you doing?” Keisha shouted.

“What I was unable to do back then.” I said, and klssed her.
