A novel of salvage high chapter 14

 Keisha’s POV

Classes went on and on, and I can’t even concentrate because if the bltch seated close to me. I don’t even understand why her presence disturbed me that much.

The last teacher before our recess break entered the class, and I couldn’t stop checking the time. Until she started to round up the class.

“I believe there are two news students in this class who are yet to start their science project.” Theo teacher said, and I instantly realized that I’m one of the student.

“Gosh… like preparing for the midterm examination is not hard enough.” I almost cried.

“Meet the class president to explain the details to you. And those of you that are yet to submit, you all have till next week to submit. The new students can submit before the midterm examination. Note, this assignment will cover 50% of your mark in my subject for the midterm examination.” She said, and my eyes widen.

“50% of the midterm examination. That’s amazing.” I almost shouted, and everyone looked at me.

“You must be a new student. Do you have anything to say?” The teacher asked, and instantly realized that I said that out loud.

   “A new student.” Melanie mumbled.

“No, no, ma’am. I have nothing to say.” I muttered.

“Ok, do have a nice day.” The teacher said, and left the class.

Thankfully, the bell rung for recess and I packed my books together ready to leave the class. I’m too embarrassed to waste time.

“Keisha, lunch is on Melanie, let’s go.” Gabriel said, and I looked at him. Wondering why he is acting like we are really friends.

“Is she having lunch with us?” Melanie said, and I looked at her.

“Sure. I told you she is our new friend.” Alex said, joining us.

“Let’s go guys.” Jeremy shouted, leading the way.

“Let’s go to the cafeteria.” Melanie said.

“So you can ditch us for those Bees?” Gabriel teased.

“Gosh, she is even friends with those girls.” I thought.

“I have missed a lot of people, so you gotta endure for the rest of the school year.” She said, and Gabriel laughed.

“But I’ve missed you more. Ella is so big now, we should hang out with her during the weekend.”

“Yeah, Ella. Did she and Jeremy broke up ?” Melanie asked, and Jeremy rolled his eyes.

I instantly got interested. Who could have thought Jeremy had a girlfriend? Well… it didn’t be unbelievable if he is single.

“There is no way he could breakup with her. Ella has more power in the relationship.” Gabriel mobbed, and Jeremy hit his back. “Hey man, that hurt.”

“Acting like she didn’t have powers over you as well. You already vowed to make her the big sister.” Jeremy blurted, and I became confused.

“Let’s say that 6-year-old got the upper hand over two grown up.” Melanie said, and I started to understand. She is probably Gabriel’s little sister.

“Two grown what? Even Alex is scared of her.” Gabriel shouted.

“Alex, why are you awfully quiet?” Melanie asked, giving a cute face.

    “That’s so weird.” I grumbled.

Finally, we got to the cafeteria and we went to buy our lunch.

“Keisha, why don’t you come with me to meet the girls? We can leave the boys to their boys talk.” Melanie said, and j looked at her.

Is she really trying to be friends with me, or she is just acting. Who cares? I’m not falling into a trap twice.

“Thanks, you can go. I don’t get along with bltches.” I blurted, and they all looked at me.

“Melanie.” The real bitches shouted, approaching our table. They were Jo other than the Bees, or cockroaches.

“Hi, Alex.” The leader said, adjusting her hair.

Alex ignored them all until they left the table with Melanie.

When school dismissed, Melanie and I went to Chris to discuss about the 50% stuffs. I can’t even remember the title, but u remembered that I’d be getting 50% marks. Thankfully, I’m not the only new student.

“This is the  guide you will work with, so I believe with that you will be good to go.” Chris said, and gave us a drafted note each.

“Ho..-“ I was saying, but my voice faded when Melanie interrupted.

“Thank you, this will do.” She said, and looked at me.

“Yes, yes, it will.” I said. I can’t let those scholars make fond of me.
*
I went to the parking lot, still thinking about how to sort out myself with the sudden project. If she hasn’t said it’s 50% or so, I would’ve just given up on it.

“Gosh! I don’t even have a ride. My bicycle.” I almost cried.

I was still pouting on how to go home when I saw Jeremy. I instantly remembered that I’ve a leach on him, so I ran after him.

   “Hey, Jeremy.”

“What?” He blurted. Bad timing, he is in a bad mood. But no turning back.

“Give me a ride home, and I’ll forget everything that happened that day.” I said, and he looked at me.

   “What happened?” He asked.

“I haven’t forgotten how those thugs gang up on you, but I’ll forget it after you give me a ride.”

“I don’t have a ride either. The guys ditched me to go study.” He said, and I looked at him. “Why am I even telling you this?” He grumbled, and continued on his way.

“The man who grabbed your collar was about 160cm tall.” I said, and he looked at me. “I’ll just go relay it to Alex and Gabriel.” I said, and turned to leave; but he held me back.

We both board a taxi, and alighted at the nearest bus station.

“Are we here to take a bus?” I asked, with wide eyes. It’s not like I don’t take public bus, but I don’t expect an elite Billionaire son like him to take one.

“I can’t believe I just revealed another secret to you while trying to protect one.” He grumbled.

“Is this another secret?” I asked.

“Since I’ve been caught. Do you want to go sightseeing with me?” He asked, and I found myself nodding.

We went to a fun station, and engaged in video games together. I know he is trying to fight his burden by playing but I’m also enjoying it as well.

“Gosh, you are so good at the game. I thought I was going to beat you.”

“I never start a losing fight.” I bragged.

“Do you think you will win if Alex was truly the one behind the black list.”

    “I don’t know. But I’ve a charm, I always win.”

“I see.. your confidence is top notch.”

“Do you feel better now?” I asked, and he looked at me.

    “I don’t get.”

“You probably came here to feel better, so how do you feel now?”

“If you wanted me to feel better, you should have let me win the game.” He said, and I chuckled.

“I believe you are feeling your best.” I said, and stood up to leave but he dragged me back. “What?” I shouted.

“Let’s stay here a little longer.”

“But I want to go home.”

“I’m not ready to go home, and I don’t want to be alone.”

    “Then call your friends.”

“They are all busy with their project assignment.”

     “Don’t you have other friends?”

“I do. But I lost my phone. I can’t contact them.”

“That reminds me. How did you lost your phone?” I asked.

     “I don’t want to share.”

“Are those thugs bullying you? Did they seize your phone fro-…”. I was saying, but he stopped me by placing his finger on my lips.

“Can it be quiet for few more minutes?” He asked, staring directly at me.

I bat my lashes rapidly, before I pushed him away.

“Hey, why are you acting weird?” I shouted.

“I lost my phone, don’t bring a big deal to it.” He said, and stood up.

“Then you should have gotten another one. I heard that you guys are elite.”

“Which guys?” He asked, giving me a teasing look.

“You, Alex and Gabriel of course.”

“You heard it wrongly.” He grumbled.

“What? So you aren’t a billionaire?” I asked.

“Do I look like one?” He asked, walking ahead of me.

“Hey, wait for me. Tell me the truth.” I shouted.

“You want to hear too many secrets. At this rate, you will have to date me.” He said, taking me aback.

“Hey! What sort of joke is that?” I shouted.

“What made you think it’s a joke? I’m a man, and you are a woman. What’s wrong with us dating?” He winked.

“Hey, stop it. But you have a girlfriend?”

    “What girlfriend?”

“The one they mentioned, Ella of whatever.”

“She is my little sister. Gabriel’s 6-year-old sister. So, it’s just a joke.” He said, looking serious.

“Wait. Stop it. I don’t want to hear anything anymore.” I shouted.

    “Why? Am I that bad?”

“Hey! Stop it Jeremy, stop it.” I shouted, covering my ears.

“Don’t tell me you are taking me seriously now.” He said, and I glared at him.

“You made it seem so serious.”

    “Why would I date you?”

“Hey! What’s wrong with me?” I shouted, and he looked at me.

“Are you literally asking that?” He asked, and stopped at taxi for me.

He opened the door for me and smiled. “Thanks for making my day. Tell the driver your location and pay. Let’s say I gave you a ride.” He said, and closed the door.

“What? I’ll be the one paying?” I shouted, as the taxi drove off. “What a nutcase.” I grumbled.

📌Alex’s POV 📌
I cross-check everything that I’ve been working on so far concerning the science project, and finally concluded it.

   “Yes, that’s it.” I hailed.

I heard a knock on the door, wondering who it was, I went to open it and was surprised to see Melanie.

“Hi, Alex. Pave way.” She said, and pushed me to find her way in.

“What do you want?” I asked.

“Come on. I thought we will be cool when I return. Just like Gabriel and Jeremy.” She said, and went to my study.

“Of course we are. We agreed to all work on our project today. So, why are you here?”

“To work on mine of course. I tried to use the guide Chris gave me, but it’s still confusing. You are more intelligent than the others, so I could just use some help.”

“You. Melanie. Finding it difficult? Why do I find that hard to believe?”

“Whatever you think. You will help me, right?”

    “Do I’ve a choice?”

“Alex. Can we go back to how we were before the confession?” She asked.

“What confession?” I asked baba. Acting like it never happened is the best was to get over it, and continue our friendship.

“Since you are feigning ignorance, that means you haven’t moved on from it?” She said.

“Let’s put all behind us.” I said, and she peck my lips.

“Even now?” She asked, and I count few shoes away from her.

“Melanie, we should only meet when the others are around. So leave.”

“Is it her?” She asked, and I looked at her.

    “Who are you referring to?”

“That girl, Keisha. I heard she just transferred last week and you became friends out of the blue. Do you have feelings for her? Or, are you two in a secret relationship?”

“Now does it concerns you? You already turned me down. So, mind your own business.”

“I didn’t have time to think back then. I brutally turned you down because I’ve a lot more things on my mind.”

“It’s past. Don’t let us bother ourselves with that. And take Keisha out of it.”

     “So, I was right.”

     “Melanie, what’s your stress?”

“I don’t like her. I disgust her at first sight. So stop being friends with her. I loathe her guts, and don’t even want to seat together with her.”

“Why are we discussing this when you were the one who went to seat with her in class?”

“Because I haven’t know her much then.”

“So, do you think you know her now?”

    “You don’t know her either.”

“Just leave. Keisha is our friend now, and the others are cool with it.”

“But I’m not. I’ll talk to the guys. It’s either they chose me, or her.” She blurted.

     “Are you serious right now?”

“Why are you so offended? Do you like her?”

    “That’s none of your business”

“Then I’ll go to the others and tell them I don’t like her. You have no reason to defer her if she is just a friend to you.” She said, and carried her bag to leave.

“Fine. She isn’t just a friend to me.” I found myself saying.

I don’t know how the word blurted out, but I had to stop her somehow. Because I’m sure the guys will gladly cut off ties with Keisha for her sake.

“You what?” She asked, obviously hurt.

“Will you stop now?” I asked.

“No, I won’t. I hate her even more now.” She blurted.
