Anovel of My motherś ex chapter 15 by authoress
That night, Rylee’s dreams spiraled into forbidden fantasies she couldn’t control. The touch of Julian’s hands on her skin, his lips trailing down her neck, and his deep voice murmuring things she wasn’t ready to hear—all of it felt so vivid.
She woke up drenched in sweat, her cheeks flushed. She ran her hands through her hair, mortified at herself.
“What’s happening to me?”
she thought, staring blankly at the ceiling before getting out of bed.
📚📚📚📚📚On her way to class with Sophia, Rylee spotted her mother, Victoria, waiting outside near the courtyard.
Dressed impeccably as always, her mother looked calm, almost smug—like she hadn’t a care in the world. Rage bubbled inside Rylee.
“Rylee, can we talk?” Victoria called, stepping toward her.
Rylee came to an abrupt halt, her knuckles whitening as she gripped the strap of her bag. Sophia hesitated beside her, sensing the tension.
“Now you want to talk? Now, after years of ignoring me and babying my brothers?” Rylee’s voice was sharp, cutting through the air like a blade. “Why are you suddenly playing the perfect mother?”
“Rylee, please don’t do this here. Let’s go somewhere private.” Victoria’s voice lowered, trying to maintain her composure.
But Rylee wasn’t having it. “Oh, you don’t like me airing our dirty laundry?” she sneered.
“Well, too bad. You should’ve thought of that before kissing my professor! A man that is not your husband”
Victoria froze. The color drained from her face as she whispered, “What are you talking about?”
“I saw you. In the library. Don’t you dare deny it,” Rylee shot back, her voice rising. “What kind of mother cheats on her husband—and with my professor, of all people?”
Sophia’s eyes widened as she looked between the two women. The passing students slowed to stare, whispers rippling through the crowd.
Victoria took a deep breath. “Rylee, lower your voice.”
“No! You don’t get to tell me what to do.” Rylee’s chest heaved, her words venomous.
“You’re disgusting. You are just a cheating dirty stupid woman who have always been fake, always been absent my whole life and siding with my brothers like I’m invisible. Not caring about a thing I do. Now you’re suddenly here, pretending to care? Too little, too late, Mother.”
Victoria tried to step closer, her voice soft. “Rylee, let’s talk—”
Rylee stepped back, tears burning in her eyes.
“Don’t. You make me sick.” And then, in one final act of rebellion, she spit at her mother’s feet.
Gasps echoed around them as Victoria flinched. Rylee turned on her heel, storming off, leaving her mother humiliated in front of everyone.

Sophia caught up with Rylee outside the building, her face tense. “What the hell was that, Rylee?”
“What?” Rylee said defensively, wiping her eyes.
“You went too far! That’s your mother, for God’s sake!” Sophia’s voice shook with frustration. “Spitting on her? Screaming in public? That’s not you!”
“Get the fuck away from me Soph” Rylee said walking away but Sophia rushed and held her down.
“No I won’t. I am your friend” Sophia yelled.
Rylee’s mask cracked as tears streamed down her face. “You don’t understand, Sophia. You don’t know what she’s done to me—to my family. She doesn’t deserve any respect.”
“Then talk to her like an adult, Rylee. You can’t go around exploding on people like this. It’s not healthy,” Sophia snapped before softening. “Please… just think about it.”
Rylee sank to the ground, burying her face in her hands. “I can’t, Soph. I can’t deal with her. I don’t even know what to feel anymore.”
Sophia sighed and sat beside her, wrapping an arm around her shoulder. “We’ll figure this out, okay?”
The sun filtered through the campus courtyard as Rylee walked to her next class, her head down, thoughts still spinning from the confrontation with her mother.
“Rylee Carter?!”
The familiar voice jolted her, and she turned to see a bright, smiling face rushing toward her—Chloe. Her childhood friend that she lost contact with years ago.
“Chloe?” Rylee said, her face lighting up for the first time in days.
Chloe squealed, throwing her arms around Rylee. “I knew it was you! Oh my God, Rylee, it’s been forever.”
Rylee let herself relax into the hug, smiling despite the weight in her chest. “It really has.”
Chloe pulled back, hands still on Rylee’s arms as she grinned. “Why didn’t you tell me you were here? I had to hear from some random girl that the Rylee Carter was walking around campus.”
Rylee laughed softly. “I’ve been… busy, I guess. A lot going on.”
Chloe raised an eyebrow, mischief glimmering in her eyes. “Ooh, ‘busy’? What kind of busy? Don’t tell me you’re already involved with someone. You always did keep secrets.”
Rylee stiffened slightly but forced a casual shrug. “It’s nothing like that. I’ve just been adjusting to everything here.”
Chloe looped her arm through Rylee’s and started walking. “Well, consider me your official tour guide and bestie again. You need someone to drag you out of that funk.” She shot Rylee a knowing look. “And maybe get you into a relationship while we’re at it.”
Rylee rolled her eyes but couldn’t suppress a small smile. If only she knew the truth.

Rylee’s mother cornered her a few days later near the campus gardens. Victoria looked tired, a faint desperation in her eyes.
“Rylee, I know you’re angry with me, but you haven’t told your father anything. Why?”
Rylee crossed her arms, glaring. “Because I want something from you.”
Victoria blinked. “What do you mean?”
“You heard me,” Rylee said coldly. “I want $500,000 transferred to my account. And you’re going to promise me—swear to me—that you’ll never go near Julian again. Ever.”
Victoria stared at her, stunned. “Rylee, that’s—”
“Do it,” Rylee cut her off. “Or I’ll tell Dad everything, and you’ll lose everything you’ve worked for.”
Tears filled Victoria’s eyes, but she nodded. “Fine. If that’s what it takes.”
“Good.” Rylee’s voice was icy. “I’ll be waiting.”
As Rylee turned to leave, her eyes caught a movement in the distance. Her heart stopped when she realized who was watching them—
Professor Julian.
What is he thinking?
Rylee stood frozen, her mind racing.
