Anovel of My motherś ex chapter 12 by authoress rose
Rylee stood frozen in Julian’s room, her emotions on the verge of exploding. Her chest tightened as the words she’d been holding back for weeks finally spilled out.
“I don’t know why this is happening,” she started, her voice trembling, “but I burn for you, Sir. Every time I see you, I feel something… something I can’t ignore anymore.”
Julian’s expression shifted, a flicker of surprise crossing his face, but he didn’t speak.
“I know it’s wrong,” she continued, stepping closer, “but I can’t help it. You make me feel alive in ways I’ve never felt before.”
Rylee’s hand reached out, brushing against his arm, her pulse quickening as she closed the space between them. “Tell me you don’t feel it too.”
But it was all In her head and she found herself saying
“Are you single or married?” Rylee held up a wedding photo of Julian and a woman.
His expression grew cold instantly and he collected the photo from her hand.
“Leave please” Julian said gesturing towards the door as he suppressed lots of emotions.
“This is my private quarters”
“I can leave but I don’t want to” Rylee said as she closed distance between them.
“There is something about you!” She said staring deep into his luminous crystal green eyes.
His expression hardened into something icy and distant.
“Are you serious right now?” he asked, his tone dripping with disdain.
Rylee blinked, her confidence crumbling. “What do you mean?”
“I mean this little… act,” he said, gesturing vaguely at her. “Throwing yourself at me like some desperate, lovesick girl. Do you really think this will work? Look I get that a lot. You are ridiculous and I thought you were smart”
His words struck her like a blow. “I’m not—”
“Let me make something very clear Miss Rylee carter. I don’t date students. And I especially don’t waste my time on girls who think seduction is a shortcut to attention. You’re nothing special—just another naïve, entitled girl who doesn’t know her place.”
Tears welled in her eyes, but she refused to let them fall. “I’m not like that,” she whispered, her voice breaking.
“Get out of my room,” he said, his tone final. “And don’t ever pull a stunt like this again.”
Without another word, Rylee turned and fled, her heart shattering as she stumbled through the mansion, barely able to see through her tears.
******************
When Rylee finally made it back to her dorm, she felt like she was suffocating under the weight of her emotions. Rejected by Julian, she found herself clinging to the only other person who had always been there for her: Theo.
He arrived at her dorm shortly after she called him, his face full of concern. “Rylee, what’s going on? Are you okay?”
“I need you,” she said, her voice trembling as she stepped closer to him. “Please, Theo. Be my boyfriend. I’m ready now. I promise.”
Before he could respond, she leaned in, her lips seeking his.
Theo gently caught her shoulders, holding her at arm’s length. “Rylee, stop,” he said softly.
“Why?” she asked, her voice breaking. “You said you love me. So why can’t you just say yes?”
“Because you don’t really want me,” he replied, his voice steady but full of sadness. “You’re hurt, and you’re looking for something to make it go away. But I can’t be your distraction. And besides…” He hesitated. “Your brothers would kill me if I even tried.”
She let out a bitter laugh, tears streaming down her face. “So you’re rejecting me too? Great. Just great.”
“Rylee, I care about you,” Theo said earnestly. “But this isn’t the way. You need to figure out what you really want.”
His words hung in the air as he walked away, leaving her alone once again.
Days of Isolation
The next few days were a blur for Rylee. She stayed in bed, ignoring her roommates and skipping classes. The pain of being rejected—first by Julian, then by Theo—was too much to bear.
Her roommates grew increasingly worried, especially Carla and Sophia. They tried everything to cheer her up, but nothing worked.
“Girl why are you sad?” Carla asked one day.
“Theo rejected her” Sophia said to Carla.
“So, he is not the only cute ass boy in a this school tho” Carla said hugging the sad Rylee.
Finally, out of desperation, they called Cole.
Cole arrived at Rylee’s dorm one evening, his usual carefree demeanor replaced with concern. He found her curled up under her blanket, her face pale and her eyes puffy from crying.
“Rylee,” he said gently, sitting on the edge of her bed. “What’s going on with you?”
“Nothing,” she mumbled, refusing to meet his gaze.
“Don’t give me that,” he said, nudging her playfully. “Come on, you can tell me. I’m the king of fixing bad moods.”
She didn’t respond at first, but Cole’s persistent humor and warmth slowly began to break through her walls. Eventually, she found herself laughing at his jokes, the heaviness in her chest lifting just a little.
“There she is,” Cole said with a grin. “Now, how about we get out of here? You’ve been cooped up long enough.”

That night, Cole convinced Rylee to join him for a party. She was reluctant at first, but eventually, she agreed, hoping the distraction would help her forget her troubles.
The party was lively, with music blasting and people dancing. Rylee tried to lose herself in the chaos, letting the energy of the crowd lift her spirits.
But then, as she glanced across the room, she saw him. Julian.
Her heart skipped a beat as she watched him, her emotions swirling. He was standing with a woman, their conversation animated. Something about the woman caught Rylee’s attention—her posture, the way she smiled.
Her breath caught in her throat as realization dawned. The woman looked just like her mother.
“No,” Rylee whispered to herself, shaking her head. “It can’t be.”
She tried to convince herself it was just a coincidence, but the resemblance was too strong to ignore. Every detail—the way the woman tilted her head, the cadence of her laugh—felt painfully familiar.
Rylee turned away, her chest tightening as questions filled her mind. Who was the woman? And what was Julian doing with her?
Despite her best efforts to push the thought aside, it lingered, casting a shadow over the rest of the night.
