𝗞elly sat on her bed in her room brooding over the scholarship exam she had written, she hoped her dream of studying at Fair summer college comes through. She has heard stories about the school harbouring only students from rich families but she wasn't perturbed even though she was just from a middle class family.She had faith that she would pass the scholarship exams successfully as she knew her parents didn't have enough money to sponsor her there.
Kelly Rose Roberts is the first child of Mr and Mrs Roberts, she had a younger brother, Max. Their father worked in a public relations Agency while his wife their mother was a nurse who worked in a hospital. The present day was public holidays so Kelly's parents were already at home.
Kelly snapped out of her thoughts as her eyes darted round her room counting or just looking at her cabinet, the windows, the wardrobe, her dressing table mirror, the cupboard, and then at her locker where her laptop was placed.
Earlier on , she had breakfast with her family before going to the verandah to chill a little while taking an outside view before zipping to her room through the parlor where Max sat with her parents watching a wildlife movie.
"Come on Kelly watch with us" Max beckoned on her
"sorry lil bro but I got busy things to do" Kelly replied
"Come off it" Max scoffed "busy things like what?"
"Like myself you dummy" Kelly said and left the lounge.
Back in her room, she began to make her bed, when she was done, she hung some of her clothes in her wardrobe, then she folded the rest carefully and put them in her drawers. Then she thrusted her dirty clothes and undies into the laundry receptacle, then she made a little pad with a duster and began dusting her wardrobe.
She started at the top and worked down to the floor, when she was done, she dusted the dressing table mirror and the locker, taking off any ornaments and placing them on her bed, then she dusted the dressing table not leaving out it's legs and also dusted the chair beside the cabinet .
Then she put back the ornaments on the dressing table. Next, she took the carpet sweeper and cleaned the carpet, when she was done, she took the polishing mop and began rubbing the floor, as she mopped she began a song thus:

She stopped singing as soon as she was done rubbing the floor, then she took the carpet sweeper outside, when she came back inside to stow her tools she saw Max strolling towards her.
"You've been busy alright" he drawled
"Yh bro " Kelly excused herself and retired back into her room where she kept her working tools away neatly in the cupboard.
She walked towards her bed and sprawled on it, she sighed tiredly and rolled one side facing the ceiling mumbling a song.
Just then her phone which was beside her rang and Kelly picked it up
"Hello who's on the line" Kelly said
"Hi Rosy" the voice on the other line spoke and Kelly recognized it at once
"Oh Julie how you doing gal?" she asked excitedly
"I'm so high up gal how's life treating ya?" Julie asked
"Girl it's been a hectic day for me" Kelly said with sigh
"You'll get over it" Julie said
"I hope so too, and then I'm gonna grab the pros!" Kelly drawled and they both giggled
"Ok baby girl when you're done would you mind coming over to my house?" Julie asked
"Of course not gal you'll see me there soon" Kelly replied
"Okay gal..... oh my bad I forgot to wish you well on your scholarship exams , I really hope you pass"
"Thanks girl I've been longing for this my whole life, I just hope I pass" Kelly said.
"Don't worry gal I know you'll pass, that brain of yours can't be outmatched" Julie said and Kelly smiled
"Thanks Julie I needed that"
"You're welcome gal, take care bye "
"Bye" Kelly said and then the line went dead. Kelly dropped her phone and then smiled, she stood up from her bed with a sigh and walked towards her locker and then sat on the chair beside it.
She opened her laptop and began an online game, while she was waiting for the game to finish loading so she can start playing, she heard a knock on her door, before she could make a move, the door was pushed open and Max entered.
"Oh it's just you " Kelly frowned rolling her eyes with a sigh
"Who else could it be?" Max asked smiling mischievously
"Haven't you heard of knocking and why are you here anyways?" Kelly asked
"Just trying to see if I could perk you up, and I knocked already" Max replied
" I don't need you to perk me up besides I didn't approve for you to enter my room so don't try it again" Kelly said and turned to her laptop.
The online game had finished loading and was starting, she paused the game and turned to see Max but he was no longer in the room , her day was left ajar, Kelly walked towards the door and bolted it then went back to her locker and started playing the game on her laptop, a notification popped up on her screen and she clicked on it , she was surprised as she read the letter from Fair summer college approving her as the winner of their scholarship and she was to start attending in 3 days.
Kelly couldn't control herself anymore, she screamed for joy and rushed out of her room after unbolting her door
**JULIE'S HOUSE***
Julie was in her room sitting on the bed she shared Jane who was her twin sister, Lucky their younger brother slept on another bed at one corner. The room was large and exquisite with an enthralling sight to behold.
Jane was putting pictures of bedroom furnitures she collected into a scrapbook. When she was done, she would then collect labels from coats, dresses, skirts and even blouses of hers and Julie probably so that she can learn the name of the materials the clothes were made of. Max who slept on his bed rolled from side to side snuggling his teddy bear he calls Stilla.
Just then Kelly entered , a bright smile evident on her face.
"Hi Kellie " four years old Max now awake greeted Kelly with smiles that could dissolve any anger. Julie had said that if there was any misunderstanding in her family, just looking at the innocent happy smile of Max, one's negative mood was easily dissolved and forgotten, Max was doted on by everyone in his family, he was chubby with a light brown skin that was soft. His hair was curly giving him an adorable look.
"Hey my maxy waxy how you doing today" Kelly said to Max
"He's fine" Julie said "I'm glad you stopped by today"
"Well what can I say, I've got to keep my words" Kelly replied
"Hi Kelly up to something new today" Jane said not looking up from her drawing book
"Maybe " Kelly said still smiling
"Mind sharing what's making you smile so hard today" Julie said to Kelly
"Well guess what" Kelly said as she went to sit on their bed .
"um.. you got a boyfriend?" Julie asked
"What no ..no way gal" Kelly said shaking her head
"Then what girl just spill it " Julie pressed curious, her eyes bulging with that feeling of presumption.
"My scholarship was approved, I can now study at Fair summer college" Kelly exclaimed joyfully
"Wow you go girl" Jane said
"I knew you could do it" Julie said smiling "I'm happy for you"
"Giggle waggy" Max said
"Not now maxy " Jane said
"Oh Kelly before I forget, our parents are taking us on a vacation this week to our grandpa's place, I'm sure you've heard of him Da jones Smith" Julie said
"Yh I have, I hear he's a farmer I wish I could go with you guys, it'll be good to see him and help him with some farmworks" Kelly said with a sigh her eyes facing the ceiling as she lay backwards on the bed.
"You talk as if farm work is that easy" Jane scoffed "it's laboriously excruciating especially for a girl "
"Says who?" Julie asked "just say you don't like farm works twinkle toes, it could be fun after all, haven't you seen female farmers before?"
"Whatever" Jane said rolling her eyes "this week is gonna be boring " she said with a frown
"Wait till you get there" Kelly said "by then the word boring will depart from your brain"
"Oh we'll see about that" Jane hissed and continued her drawing, meanwhile Kelly and Julie exchanged knowing glances. Kelly quickly grabbed a pillow and hit Jane's back
"Hey" Jane said
"Pillow fight" Julie said giggling and Kelly engaged her with her own pillow
"I'll get y'all" Jane said and hit Kelly back with a pillow
"It's on" Kelly said with a smirk and they continued the game laughing with so much glee.
