A soft little hand woke me up in the morning.,I was on the
couch,still in yesterday's clothes,I couldn't remember how or
when I fell asleep,the last thing I remembered was waiting up
for Luke and frequently checking his phone which went straight
to voicemail.
Me : Hey baby,you are already dressed for school?
Cassie : (Enthusiastic)Yes!I'm going with barbie!(showing me
her doll)
Me : Okay,tell her to be a good girl and not make noise in class
okay?
She nodded
I checked my phone for any missed calls from Luke, Nothing!
there was an "Answer the phone" text from Len's number and
6 missed calls from him,I ignored,I seriously did not get what
Len's deal was, it got to my nerves that he didn't listen when I
told him not to ever call me again..
Me : Did you eat?
Cassie : Corn flakes!
We heard the gate open,I rushed to the door but saw Bra Moss
park in the driveway,he got out and waved hello!
Me : (after waving to Bra Moss)Time to go,tell him I have no
school today okay?
Cassie : Okay,.
I watched as she rushed off to the car,got in and bra Moss
drove off,.
I went up the stairs to Luke's room,The bed didn't look slept
in,I went back downstairs.
Me : (shouting)Sis Debs??
Sis Debs : (emerging from the laundry room,)Yes?
Me : Have you seen Luke this morning?(I was hoping that
atleast he came home and changed for work while I was
passed out on the couch)
Sis DEbs : No,I haven't seen him,not since yesterday evening.
Me : OKay..
I went upstairs and tried his phone again,it was still off,I
started crying and called Neo!
Neo : Hey!
Me : I need you!
Neo : Where are you?Are you crying?
Me : I'm at home,Luke didn't come home last night..he's angry
at me!
Neo : Text me the directions..
Me : I'll get Bra Moss to pick you up!
Neo : Alright.
I hung up and called BRA Moss informing him to go pick Neo
up and gave him her number to communicate.
I sat on the floor and thought about the previous night as I
waited for her,I couldn't believe I was at that point,things had
been so good between me and Luke and now everything was
messed up because of those damn Michaels brothers! I had
never seen him angry like he was and so crushed! I didn't
know what he was capable of in that state,I wanted to call
Jenna or Carol but I just gave them my number, didn't take
theirs back,a lot of thoughts flooded me,he may have gone to
confront one or both Len and Kyle and things may have gotten
out of control. I had to know, I took my phone and hit
the dial button on Len's number,he picked up on the first ring..
Len : What is so hard about returning calls?
He seemed to be in panic,which got me so scared!
Me : Did something happen over there?
Len : Huh??Something like what?..Why don't you answer my
calls?
Me : Coz I told you not to call me...Has Luke been there?
Len : Should I know who that is?
Me : Did anyone come to your place yesterday or today
confronting you?
Len : Why would anyone be so dumb?..Is everything...
I hung up,I was so relieved that atleast he didn't go to Len and
cause a scene!..
I heard Neo's voice calling and rushed downstairs, as soon as
i saw her I just broke down,she came and gave me a hug..
Neo : What happened Eves?,you are a mess!.
Me : I..he..(I couldn't talk straight without just crying)
Neo : Come sit..
We went and sat on the lounge,she put my head on her
shoulder and waited for me to pull it together.
Me : He stormed out,didn't come home last night,I have no
idea where he is..
Neo : What happened?
Me : I told him everything,about Len,that I went to his house
for the session,and what happened there...
Neo : You went there before you told him?
I nodded
Neo : What do you mean "what happened there??"
Me : I found Len's brother there,Kyle,he came in,I was seated
alone in the couch while Len's driver went to call him upstairs
for me,he got inappropriate saying all sorts of stuff and tried to
get Lucky..
Neo : Whoa!
Me : I managed to get him off and Len came in and handled
it,.kicked him out of the house,
Neo : Thats messed up!
Me : (I stood up and walked around)That's not even the good
part, Luke and I went to dinner last night,I got to meet his two
sisters,Carol and Jenna,Carol came with her boyfriend,..Kyle!
Neo : (wide eyes)You lie!how did you handle that?
Me : I panicked! Tried to get Luke home and tell him all about it
as soon as possible coz I realised Shit had hit the fan,the
bastard even tried to blackmail me,saying he'd tell Luke that I
was two timing him with Len if I said anything,..and to top it
all off,Carol announced that she is pregnant,with Kyle's
baby,,.so you can imagine the level of anger that Luke was in
already when I hit him with my news!
Neo : My God Eves,what did he say?
Me : He didn't have to say anything. Neo, he was so
crushed,He stormed out,I've been waiting to hear from him
since last night,nothing..
Neo : I'm so sorry hon,he'll come around,(got up and gave me
a hug)Next time,if anything happens,no matter how small,you
share with your man,he's obviously extra sensitive about such
things,And the fact that its the same guy who's just knocked
up his sister just added fuel to the fire!...
Me : Yeah, I know,I don't know what to do now,or where we
stand,.Its killing me..
Carol burst open the door!
Carol : Where is he?What the fuck is wrong with him?!LUKE!
(screaming)
Me : He's not here!
Carol : Where the hell is he?
Me : I don't know,what happened?
Carol : He attacked Kyle last night,beat him up at his
house!!,he called me from the hospital,I just came from there!
Me : Oh my God,is he okay?
Carol : Badly bruised but he'll be okay,Luke nearly broke his
jaw and now he is threatening to lay charges,how can Luke be
this stupid?Overreacting like this over just a pregnancy!I can't
handle all of this!
Me : Lay charges?
Carol : Assault and tresspassing,he went to his house and beat
him up! I pleaded him to wait until I've talked to Luke and get
him to apologize maybe!Its all just a big mess,!They've never
liked each other,but this! Luke went too far this time!
Me : (Panicking)Did you check Jenna?
Carol : She hasn't seen him..
Me : Okay well,we've got to find him (I got up and headed for
the stairs to go and change.)
The door opened and Luke walked in, He looked like a
trainwreck!,I ran to him!
Me : Babe! where have you been?,we've been worried sick (I
tried to touch him but he raised his hands to warn me off and
looked away.)
Carol : You! What the hell is your problem? You put Kyle in the
hospital! What's gotten into you?That's the father of my
child,whether you like it or not! Beating him up is not going to
change that!
Luke : I don't want to talk about it!(he passed me to go
upstairs)
Carol : Well too bad!We are talking about it!You have to go
apologize to him before he lays a charge against you to the
police.
Luke : (turning around and walked to Carol.)I'm not going to
apologize to that punk!And you are never,ever seeing him
again!
Carol : What?Are you crazy?
There was a knock at the door,I went to open,two policemen
stood outside..
Policeman 1 : We are looking for a...(looked down to his
paper)Luke Jones,is he in?
